I hope not
They should get over 98 without a crafting buff, where as server best on farstar is 97 so I think they should cap. I want to see a screenie
Problem is, to my belief, unless every resource stat hits either 1000 or the gated cap, layers will never hit +100. They'll always be 99.9 or less. I guess it comes down to which of our theories is correct with regards to the rounding down of figures to the nearest whole number. If they round down to 99, just like what seems to happen to my theoretical 99.4% layers, then they'll always drop 12 points to 8188.
It'd be interesting to get some feedback from all AS's making high end energy layered, recording what their experimentation was on the layers, what their energy bonus was, and what their final energy resist came out at. If we see patterns to the resist stat in multiples of 12 where the AS has used identical layers for all 4 slots in the segments then it's pretty certain that layers get rounded down. This theory may already be bust though as I'm sure I saw someone selling 8150 recon which would indicate a layer of +95.83, not +95/+96. But then again, it could also be that they were just short of capping their cores.
/me goes round in circles

Yes I see your point. Here is a quick example for you though to show that the decimals do carry forward though, take server best on Farstar pre crafting buff, this is 1165. This equates to a layer with 97.1 bonus, 97.0 is not enough.
Of course, as to whether there is a final rounding down or up in the final combine, thats more difficult to answer. I am sure something posted that they had seen 8200 armor on wanderhome and am surprised not one has posted a screenie ![]()

Don't spend time looking for Ofabe though. I think it is a bogus entry in Swgcraft (never been verified and none I have heard had any of it). Ikeam is the best Kammris iron with 986/978
Ah ok thanks. So reworking the maths with this ferrous instead gives a layer with 98.0 before buff. This would mean falling short of a 100% but a very small fraction if I just worked the numebrs roughl. Applying a 2% value to each SR and Q value would mean less than prefect OQ stats on the alantium, and less than perfect SR on the metal and polymer. Whether this would yield a 100% layer depends on whether the decimals round up

One final point, there is no point in making a core with greater than a 5600 base. Tone down your resoruce mix at either segment or core level, use a few less good resources, save the good stuff. This way you will take maximum advantage of teh 400 adder at the final combine stage.
I read this and think, why not just make your cores as close to 5600 as possible and drop the rest into condition or something.
It's early so if this is a stupid question, force feed me coffee before flaming. ![]()

No, it's a good point, I think - the problem is just that it is difficult getting just enough amazings to hit 5600 or a little over with 9 points.. Usually, I end up having to spend that 10th xp point getting the core from 599x to 60xx (where the last xx is usually way too high)

599X.. I'd live with and see what it makes. ![]()

It is a good point, however spending that spare point in condition typically only gives you at most an extra 1k and that does not seem to effect sales at all. I tend to prefer to use a balanced mix of resources or just use a rubbish hide and get just over 5600. This way I make my resource pool last longer as I am not using all my best resources at once.
