Thread: Armorsmith/Weaponsmith/Merchant Template...

Greetings,

I've always played a combat character, but am thinking of starting a new account with a merchant type character. What is a pretty standard template for being able to place vendors, craft high-end weapons/armor, and possibly slice them if needed?

I appreciate your feedback as I do not know much about these professions. I am reading the FAQ's right now, but any template advice would be helpful.

Oh, do most of you harvest your own resources or buy them?

Thanks!

For artisans going for the double mastery with merchant most people look like this:

MAS/MWS/MArtisan Merchant 3404, although it's anyone's guess if you want adevertising anymore with the GWVS.

For this template you'll need to hook up with a tailor to do your Reinforced Fiber panels, Fiblerplast Panels, and Synthetic cloth (and padded for wookies ).

Hope that helps.

Heya.

I am doing the same that you are planning. I just came back to the game & am playing with my TKM/MD to see if I can find a better prof for that. But I am also working my second character that is Master Artisan/ 4-4-1-4 Armorsmith/0-0-0-0 Weaponsmith (I dropped it long ago to go BACK to combat, then went BACK to crafting, DOH!) & either 3-0-0-4 maybe in Merchant, & then the 0-2-0-0 as listed above in Tailor to allow for self sufficiency. I am still playing with ideas, to just find a friendly Tailor, & go from there, or just get a basic merchant temp & keep the Tailor, etc etc.

Oh well. If I can ever get this AS grind done, I will be ready to finish Master Weaponsmith. Good Luck to you as well...

My alt is MArtisan, MWS, MAS (12pnt on all) and has tailor x/3/x/x and merchant x/4/x/1. It gives me what I need in order to never depend on a tailor as well as some nice vendor options and decreased maintance. There are not too many resources that you won't need, it can be pretty taxing, but well worth it IMO.

Hello!

Thanks for all the advice, this is indeed a friendy board!

My main desire for my shop is to sell high-end weapons that bounty hunters will use. I plan on exploiting (not in a bad way though, :smileyhappy the number of new and upcoming bounty hunters on my server.

They are always looking for high-end FWG5, Scatters, Laser Rifles, Lighting Rifles, T-21s, Proton Carbines, etc...As well as the various forms of armor.

Will Master Artisan, Master Weaponsmith, Master Armorsmith, Tailor 0300, Merchant 0401 give me the ability to craft items up to par with the elite crafters of the server?

Also, I'm assuming it is more beneficial for me to harvest my own resources than purchase them?

I both harvest resouces and buy them. I have a number of those "no-power" harvestor things, so that bring the cost down, and the maintance cost reduction with merchant x/4/x/x helps too. But some times it's cheaper and more convienent to buy.

As far as keeping up with the elite crafters, the extra 2 points awarded with CA's helps, but the key, and I can't stress this enough, is the quality of resources. If you would like I can email you an excel spread sheet with WS and AS specific resources and what stats to look for. It also includes each stats cap. For example, Rhodium steel is used in barrels for ranged weapons. You want SR and Conductivity, but the cap on conductivity is only like 85. That's right 85. So you may see some and think: "man that sucks", when in actuallity it may be the best spawn ever. The spread sheet helps me big time when shopping, harvesting, or surveying for resources. If you'd like a copy, just Private Messageme with your email address.

I have been weaponsmithing for well over a year, so my resource stock is top shelf. I'm just getting into armorsmithing, so I'm struggling to keep up in that area (especially the resources that aren't spawning and aren't for sale anywhere in the damn galaxy).

Thanks for the templates and info!

I think I'm going to try this all out. I'll be sending over a PM to you for that Excel sheet. Anything that makes this a little easier the better. =)

I'm sure that I'll have more questions later on, so I'll try to keep you guys up to date. Thanks again. Any other information is appreciated.

Okay, so about how much does a +25 attachment cost? I'm assuming you want the attachment to be for whatever item you are creating? Weaponsmith attachment for weapons, etc....?

I have a few WS experiment CA's totaling +24, one armorsmith CA +25, and a few Artisan for a total of +24. That's kinda hard to do with one suit, and it sure as h3ll isn't cheap. The one Armorsmith CA cost me 30 mil. but if you can get all 25 points in one CA, that's the way to go.
