Please read links from and then post in merchant feedback thread here.

And think of how great it will be that everyone no longer travels to your shop,

that only the lowest sellers get sales

that the impulse buys from browseing a vendor are gone

that player cities that are clinging to exist via their vendors are no longer visited...

I highly doubt this would ever go through.

also, why shouldn't the lowest prices for the same quality good be the ones purchased? if someone can do it as good as you but at a lower cost then they should take your business, and they probably will.

and does it say that items can be retrieved from anywhere also? if not then people will still have to go to the actual vendor to pick it up.

With this, true merchants are going to be killed. No point in having a good looking shop, or a shop at all, just a vendor in the basement of your house with all your items jammed on it.

I am very opposed to this, as a long time merchant, my shop is going to be killed when this comes into play, especially for those of us who sell full suit armors in backpacks. The only way to survive is if you have good enough products and a good enough name to get people to still come to your shop,w hich is going to be hard when they're never going to have to leave the NPC city again.

And I heard this is going to TC in the next few days too

I am torn on this.

It is a huge slap in the face to the merchant profession. Like our corrispondant said, why have a nice looking shop/mall when all you need is a box vendor in your house. Ive spent alot of time and money getting a full set of BH armor, maurader and faction armor, every painting, various unique loots drops, and 'lego' type displays.

On the other hand, the devs are trying to reduce 'downtime' in the game, reducing how long it takes to get ent buffs, 1 min timer on shuttles and such. On my alt characters on diffrent servers, there is nothing more frustrating than spending 30+ mins driving from vendor to vendor looking for just one particular item, especailly when the planetary vendor listing says "harvesters" and you arrive to find it with one 99999999 credit backpack used for storage.

This could also normalize the economy, so ppl can comparison shop prices and quality from one location instead of vendor and planet hoping looking for the best deal. Could be a boon to tailors for ppl can look for whatever item in whatever color the desire. Also gives the small or solo crafter a chance to get their wares out there and sold, even those working toward master can sell their stuff to newbies easyer.

The backpack thing is something us armorsmiths need to worry about, I would wish they allow viewing of the contents in this system. I dont sell single items, save ubese bandoliers and other 'decorative' armor accesories, just in backpacks.

To address your first point, price gouging has never been a safe way to encourage economic growth. A cut-throat economy will backfire EVERY time. You think it sucks now to pay 120k for Comp...wait'll you pay 2 Mil for Faction Armor and wait 7 days because the only AS in the game that can afford to stay in businessdoesn't feel like talking to you for any less or simply hasn't logged on.

You second point has a flaw too...say you buy a full suit of Comp off my vendor for 5k and you think: "What a great deal!" only to arrive at the house to discover a 100k entrance fee.

Making a Galaxy wide search is a great idea, because we've all had to shop the vendor ring and both sucks and blows. But, making a purchase option as a tack on rider to the proposal is a crappy idea no matter how you cut it.

i dont like this change a single bid if it comes online, neither as merchant (Shipwright and Armorsmith) nor as customer. As merchant i think it will not be worth my time to produce things, as i will probably not compete with other people and so i will not sell enough to make the time needed to get a buisness running reasonable. I am sure this will kill a lot of crafters, and we will see soon enough monopols. Perhaps im just going to wait that long, collect some more resources fill my stock and if the monopols gonna hit in i can start selling again.

All in all i dont think i can compete galaxywide. And probably im not gonna try to do that.

Perhaps its time for me now (after being crafter from the first day after european release) to explore the combat profs out there.

Btw another thought i forgot nearly again, but it was the first after reading this. How do they think thats going to work? If i imagine all items on vendors out in the galaxy be searchable at the same time, thats an awfull lot. Lets see if its useable on prime times´, i doubt that a bid.

This will help no one. No more brand loyalty, so whats the point in building up a name for yourself? Whats the point of having a merchant house, and or city? whats the point of all these decorations and posters if no one is going to come see them? No more impulse buys from searching through your vendor? No reason for advertisement or protocol droids. No reason to have the ability to place so many vendors ..only need a few. No reason to have the ability to have your vendors where cloths, be different races, and bark.....no one will see them. Watch as the few merchant cities turn into ghost towns and the merchant professions dies.

As a customer, I dont think its all that good either. Say im looking for a right bracer, how many damn pieces am i going to have to look through 400,500, 1000. If im looking to buy a pre packed suit Ill have to look through every travel pack, bounty pack, tech pack in the galaxy 1/2 of which will be someones storage.

However there is something we can do, if you are in a merchant city that has some strength. Ask all of your merchants to not let their vendors be searchable. Make there be a reason for people to come to your merchant town and shop. This whole thing is extremely short sighted, but if it does get past test to live, the merchant community is really going to have to stick together and boycott this crap.

/agree with the highlighted part......dont know why they are doing this, the merchant profession will die, no use for any of it. All you will need is the artisan tree that allows vendors. This Makes me very sad.

But your other points i dont think make sence or just wont happen.

People wont boycott it, maybe the people who have cornerd the market will but this opens up a big door for everyone with out prime location and with out a big name.

and i think u can search it easy, the bazaar is very easy to search with the diffrent menues for diffrent items.

All in All with the CU and this merchant thing i might just stop making bulk armor to sell and just make special orders and armor for friends and myself......Not likeing all of these changes, i dont like traveling all over to find what i need but i really dont do that anymore. i have found those good merchants that are stocked all the time and whos prices are decent and the good ones know there customers and send me mail when they restock or just to give me a heads up on deals.......

if this happens i will drop my master merchant and put 1 vendor as my storage and 1 as my sales.....or just quit selling to the masses.

as a consumer i like it. It will guarantee i pay the lowest price possible for the quality of armor i want.

why do you all fear that you can't compete with the other smiths on your server? If they're better than you then you will fail, as you should, but if you can produce the best armor at the best price then you could corner the market.

everyone will be getting a lot more traffic, people seeing their goods, now you have to make your goods worth a look at. and who is to say you won't retain brand loyalty? I would buy armor from the guild smith if my guild had one, every guilded smith will retain their regional monopoly unless you've done something terribly wrong.

as producers you may not like it if you KNOW that someone makes better armor than you do and you KNOW that someone else sells it for less than you do. But if you know those things, then why are you bothering to be an armorsmith at all if you aren't trying to be the best?

every producer who knows he makes the best or knows he sells at the best price should like this change.
