Anyone? With resource requirements going up so much, and loots making the armors worth having... I really can't see anyone making gloves and boots at all anymore.
We'll have a game that looks like a Gap ad with everyone tooling around in Capri pants. /rolleyes
Really? You can't be hit on the hands? Heya, I was a competitive fencer in college and when you're using an Epee as your weapon, 80% of your points scored were on hand hits! Niice. Realistic! I've also scored round winning points on people's feet, too. Niice. Realistic!
Here's my solution to the boots gloves problem... They took gloves and boots out as valid hit locations because it isn't fair to wookies and trandoshans, right? well, simple fix. Wookies and Trandoshans can wear biceps, right? How about you extend the protections on the biceps to cover the wooks and trandos hands!! That way, combat people who can will have to wear gloves and boots and Armorsmiths will bother producing them! As it is... there is no reason to even *have* gloves and boots schematics right now...

Right now you need helm, chest, gloves and boots, Bicep, bracer and pants you can do without. I'm not sure if that has changed in the CU.

It has. Since trandos and wooks can't wear gloves or boots they made it so gloves and boots have no armor class.... errr "protection". So all other races can wear them but they are nothing more than very expensive clothes.

It has. They've fixed the armor holes problem, so now all parts of your body are valid hit locations, *except* boots and gloves. Being able to be hit in the hands and the feet was deemed unfair to wookies and trandoshans, so they have been removed as valid hit locations from the combat system. Although wearing gloves and boots wouldn't affect your encumberance, since the devs have said that your encumberance and hinderance values will come strictly from your heaviest piece of armor (chestplate, probably?), there's no reason to protect them either, since they cannot be hit at all.
That said... What's the purpose of having them at all, then?
I'm just waiting to see if the servers turn into Arkansas Ozark Mountain runabouts with high-water hicks and chicks in Capri pants everwhere.
(for those of you who might be offended about derisive statements made about the Ozarks, I can say with assurity, don't get upset...

If this is the case they should include glove model into the bracer models, and boot models into the leg models, to save crafting unneeded items, and so that players can not look dorkish by missing those pieces

Or you can wear cloth boots and gloves for extra CA slots if you are not atrans or wookie, or wear armor boots and gloves for AA slots that will not decay due to damage. So it can actually be quite a bonus, will free up that belt slot for a psg.

There is no point in ever crafting armor boots or gloves after CU. Will people really want extra hinderance penalties for wearing 2 pieces of extra armor that they dont need to wear? The answer is no. Already in live, people only wear minisuits as its all they need, and there isnt even any hinderance in live that effects your combat.
Firstly, as an AS, the resource needs are too much, secondly, a pair of gloves and boots would last forever, so maybe the only real use for crafting gloves and boots would be for adding in Armor Attachments (if they still exist). At least this would mean skill enhanced armor would last for a very long time (unless that system has changed also).

There is no hinderance on post CU boots and gloves, no stats are present at all. I have pulled all the new suits from the blue frog in TC5 and no stats were present.
Also, if folks want armor boots and gloves to complete their set for the looks then you can just make unlayered basic core ones. These use basic resources, no point in using good stuff either since there will be no stats to go for. Just use you grind quality materials.I have been doing that for padded armor belts for people to hang AA's on for ages in live.
I don't know how things will work out when CU goes live, but if the whole sockets, AA, CA thing stays the same as live now then those boot and glove slots are quite useful. The user as the choice to add8 more CA slots when wearing the full suit or adding 8 AA slots with the safe knowledge that they won't have to worry about armor decay due to damage.

So, once again... since gloves and boots are non-hittable locations, to be fair to wookies and trodoshans... How is it fair, then, that wookies and trandoshans don't get permanently safe spots to stash CAs and AAs?
This is definately a re-balance only in the sense that it was off balance before, and they've moved the deck chairs around on the titanic, and it'll be off balance in the future.
The plane is crashing! We're too front heavy! Move everything to the back of the plane! DOH! Now the back is too heavy! The plane is still crashing... /weep for swg

Thats good to know, I'll be making boots and gloves for fashion purposes then. However, I've not been on TC for a few days so haven't looked myself, but if the items have no stats at all - then I would imagine they also would have 0 sockets

I hear Minisuit on CU now can hold only 2 parts Helmet and Chest. So...

WittyNewt wrote:Dbinky, I completely agree with you, they have moved from one unfair situation to another one since wookies and trandoshans can't get access to those extra CA/AA slots. Wookies have a whole different clothing situation already on live anyway which gave them some advantages and disadvanatges with regard to BE clothing. For the rest of the races of course its positive.DiceDup, none of the armor pieces on TC5 had sockets, however all other pieces except boots and gloves had hinderance and resistance stats. Boots and gloves just listed these as zero. My assumption, and of course its only that is that the devs didnt bother with sockets on the TC5 pieces, maybe so that anyone looting a good AA wouldnt get annoyed when they updated the serve 2 days later with new stuff and found their RIS suit with it in had disappearred. I am also assuming that sockets will be craftable when CU hits live of course.
I was thinking about this earlier today... my cynasism tells me that we can kiss AAs and CAs goodbye. The game would be "fairer" if no one was allowed to be better than anyone else through any means, including game-play effort!
I can see it now... this isn't the CURB, it's the CUHB (Combat Upgrade ala Harrison Bergeron)! Sooo... does that make the Devs into Diana Moon Glampers?
(if you're not erudite enough to get the Harrison Bergeron reference, I *highly* suggest you read the short story by Kurt Vonnegut)
