when i had enough exp for my first ch skill i was enthralled. I wanted bigger and better pet and wanted new commands so i went with animal rapport which said it would let me teach "stay" and increase my max number of pet levels by 10. but then when i looked at my skill mods it said that the max pet skill lvl. is 15 but my max number of pet lvls. is 25. whats the diff.?

I have picked up some armor segments and armor attachments. Can anyone tell me what the difference is?

armor attachments are intended to go into socketed armor, which at this time does not exist. So for now these are worthless and I have a whole pile of em just collecting dust. Armor segments can be used in the creation process of armor to add different properties to the armor. Some of these are bugged, some are not. If you think you have some nice segments and want something made, find a local AS and see what they can do.

What is the difference between Weapon ASSEMBLY and EXPERIMENTATION?

In terms of races (that being Human and Mon Calmarian) how does one of these make a Weaponsmith better?

Assembly increases the chance of getting a great/amazing success on the combine. It has no effect at master because everyone has +100 assembly and never gets less than a great/amazing. Rodians and mon cal have weapon assembly bonuses

Experimentation increases the number of experiment points you get (one point for each +10) and may increase the chance of getting a great/amazing success on an experiment. There are no races which have weapon experimentation bonuses.

I thought Mon Cal had a +10 to experimentation?

Sorry to contradict, but this isabsolutelyfalse (the second part, at least).

As a master weaponsmith/architect/artisan, I have certainly failed more times than I would care to count on any number of items, in any of those three lines. While the Architect profession has lately been "fixed" to where we now have access to all our experimentation boxes, I still "fail" on occasion when building factories, harvesters, etc. Ditto with weapons (ESPECIALLY with weapons, since that's where my highest levels of quality control are, and where I notice them more), and likewise with basic items from the Artisan tree.

I specialize in melee weapons - primarily two-handed curved swords, though I've lately branched out to make power hammers and one-handed curved swords, and I would estimatethat just counting those items, I've probably craftedperhaps 100-200different items and schematics (separate builds, not factory runs). In that entire history, I'd estimate I've made perhaps 5-10% of them with a "perfect" build across the board, with nothing short of a "great/amazing" result at 7 or 8%.

It is far more common to build a sword with 5-6 "great" results and 4-5 "moderate" or "good" results. Heck, even a "great" isn't always 7% - I've seen a "great" result with 5% or 6%, and in my mind, that doesn't cut it- that means I toss the whole **edit** thing and start over (assuming it'sa weapon).

I guess I am asking this:

I am a wookie at the moment. I am looking to go the SAME route (that being Weaponsmith/Architecht).

Would it REALLY be that much of a difference in my final product if I were a Mon Calmarian?

I still get many critical failures, successes, moderate succeses - mostly greats - rarely ANY amazings.

UALGHUALGHALUHLAHLAGH EXPERIMENTATION STUFF

I am talking about the COMBINE success, not experimentation - you put the resources in the crafting tool, click Create, and it either crit fails or brings up the screen where you select experiment, create prototype, or create schematic. That screen has a message which says something along the lines of "The assembly was a moderate/good/great/amazing success". Amazing combines will start at slightly higher experiment percents than great (an amazing laser rifle took 9 points to max out damage vs 10 for a great but end up with the same damage/speed/etc), moderate/good ones have lower percents and take more points to max out.

I haven't seen anything besides crit fail, great, or amazing success on a weapon combine since techniques 2 or 3, four months ago. Experimentation, on the other hand, produces crap results all the time.

Assembly may be linked to critical failure chance, but since the only class with less than +100 assembly was architect and their items all use hundreds or thousands of resources, the constant architectcomplaints about crit fails were probably because they lose so much when it happens and not because of an actual link between assembly skill and failure rate.

Ah, my fault... sorry.

However, are you trying to say you've never had anything less that a great/amazing success on combine? I find that extremely hard to believe, unless you've never crafted more than a couple items once you hit master...
