Is there any way to move items around in your inventory???? I didn't think so,,,,, It seeems like it is a petty thing to wish for but it would make everyones lives (artisans especially) so much easier. Any chance of getting this fixed in an upcoming patch? Its not too much to ask for. Its not quite a bug so Where can you send ideas like this to the Devs?

Hey, guys and gals, I was just curious as to how you organise your inventories for building armor. My armor shop is really starting to take off and I'd like to build my custom armor more efficiently. Currently, my inventory looks like the following:
- 1 travel pack (equipped) that is always full containing only crafting resources (inorganic, organic, and armor components)
- 1 pack that contains grinding resources for AUKs and Mabari Chestplates
- everything else: excess resources, crafting tools, weapons, armor, meds
Currently, whenever i wanna choose resources to build a piece of armor for use/sale, I just open the resources pack, sort it (why won't you stay sorted!!), then click on every item and watch for a little green bar to appear next to the resource slot. If I'm crafting multiple pieces,Ifind it's hard to remember which ones were the 'good' ones I used for the previous piece so each piece comes out with somewhat equal in stats and experimentation.
So do I need to 'clean out' my resource pack and get rid of any resources i won't use/don't use often? What sort of checks and balances do you other armorsmittys do to keep your inventory clean?
It would be ideal, if I could have a container within a container so I could keep the 'good' resources from the 'not so good' ones. Is this even possible? I know you can't put a pack inside a pack but are there other items that can act like this?
Thanks, and I appreciate your responses!

I have backpacks in my back room with my crafting stations. One for Aluminum, hide, segments, etc etc. Then, I have a pack for good resources of every armor type that I make. I find that Lots of Resources+Inventory with another pack=Constantly deleteing/losing things.

I have a factory for each type of resources, ie alum factory, steel factory, fiberplast factory.
i also turn on the resources stats display feature. i display the combine oq and sr value. its easy to tell which resources is what instead of looking at 80 stacks of alum

LOL, my 'workshop' is also a mess. I've got stacks of misc components, a couple craft stations, misc personal armor/weaps i don't use often, a variety of segments/enhancers, i have no idea when i'm gonna use, plus all my survey tools. gawd, for such an organizedperson such as myself, i sure have a disorganized character... One day i'll sort everything out but it seems like i never have the time to do so.
What's this about 'combining OQ and SR'? I wonder if i'm already doing that, since i have OQ and SR checked in the options but only one number is displaying on the resource..
That does seem like a really good idea though about setting up 'containers' in your shop and and just placing the specific items in each container. Problem is, is that I have this facination about keeping a bunch of resources on me 'in case' someone asks me if I can build them something while i'm on the road...

I'm a big believer in the backpack method. I have one for each type of resource. Granted, if I had an alt acct or two, I'd line up 10 factories and go nuts with it, but instead, I havea storagehouse with about 12 backpacks, alum, irons, steels, fibers, wooly hides, you get the idea.
I would love to do the factory thing though, great if you have alts. Sadly, the game has come to a point where I wouldn't consider alts, and barely consider having one account.
Praying hard for a great combat rebalance that makes sense, and maybe an alt is in the cards....

it gives you an average of the boxes you have checked

First, I think it sorts based on the creation date of the stack. At least it seems that way to me.
I use backpacks to separate all the different types of resources I need. I then have separate backpacks for ubese and composite with the best materials contained therein. If I mine something better, I then shuffle some things. Instead of looking at stats in the stacks, I took the time one afternoon to list everything I have in an Excel spreadsheet. It took a while, but it was well worth it. I can quickly scan and/or sort to find what I need. It helps that I have a laptop I can use for the spreadsheet while I'm in game on my PC. I can also look at this list to see if I want to mine a particular resource.

All the stuff I carry on me normallyI try to keep to under 50 items that I can have in my backpack. I keep crafting kits, repair kits, batteries, clothing, bits of armor, in there. I keep resources in my crafting droid in case I need to whip up anything at a moment's notice. This is nice as it allows me to not be tied to a backpack and allow me to take it off when need be (I hate having one stuch on my back all the time) but if I need to do some crafting, or move stuff, ect. I can equip my backpack and instantly I get 60 items of storage, which is very very nice. I keep a pack in my house with more resources also that I can quickly grab when I need to make more complex things as it has a little bit of everything. I mostly use that when I am doing archtecture work, specifically decorations.

I use bags in the house to hold components and extra segments. All resources are kept in the crafting stations.
The only thing that I have on me is reinforced panels and synthetic cloth. Any extras of those arekept in the factories.

You can place satchels and cargo pockets inside your backpack to further organize its contents, and the fact that you can name them also is nice. They take up an extra space but save you tons of time in the end.

I used to use the backpacks against the wall in the crafting house... they're still there but gathering dust.
Now I have a system I love alot... i have satchels labeled with each type of crafting I do. I have three ones i use the most: Composite, Wookiee Hunting, and RIS. Composite also doubles as my layers kit. I only keep the top ingredients for each thing in there, since that's all i use (well until i run out).
When I am working on a given project I pick it up and work with it. Crafting, loading up factories, etc. then when I'm done i either leave it in my inventory or i drop it in front of the crafting station.
This system became really critical for me recently, since i had to ditch the pack, to make room for my bandolier, which is part of my 12 pt crafting suit. I thought I was going to suffer horribly from having no pack, but in the end all it did was make me get organized. I don't miss my pack at all and i often have lots of free space in my inventory too. The 12 pt suit goes in a droid of course.
Now if i can just figure out what to do with all the damn space loot...
