Shouldn't that be something that only weaponsmiths can do? Same for repairing armour to armoursmiths and repairing droids to droid engineers?

Any artisan can make an attempt at repairing a weapon, armor or a droid BUT... this is a big but...you will damage the weapon. I know that I got luck and repaired a pistol with my Artisan skills and it only knocked 50 points off the total condition (1000 max to start 950 after repair). I have heard that some people have cut their over all weapons condition in half (ouch). As a weaponsmith this chance to mess up a weapon is greatly reduced (if not totaly non existant - I am not positive on that one).

Hope that helps,
QJ

Does repairing weapons make the weapon lose any of its stats?

Right now I have a 60-122 scout blaster 1.7 speed unsliced, and I was wondering I could repair it. I am just scared to see if it would damage the stats at all.

I too, survived melon nerf 2003.

As a fighter I noticed the rate of decay on my fwg5 and scatters is pretty significant. Since I'm relatively new to the game, I haven't had the need to repair yet.

I spoke with a BH friend of mine and he repairs his scatters with a 99.6% tool. A lot of other people say take it to a master weaponsmith for a repair.

At the advice of my friend, I used a 99.6% repair kit on my 200/999 fwg5 and it took it down from 900 to 619 and I was quite upset.

Then again I took a 99.6 repair kit to a 500/990 scatter and it destroyed it complete and I was angry enough to log off for awhile.

So in my fustration, I ask... what am I suppose to do? Do I need to take it to a master weaponsmith or not? When should I repair it? Will repairing always bring down the condition? Is it a fact that you will not always be able to hold on to your most precious thing?

I'm getting so many conflicting reports from people as to when to repair it's making my head spin. Heck, even a master weaponsmith told me a few days ago use a 99.6% and you can't fail. A fellow BH told me NO, not since last patch, take it to a weaponsmith.

Devs, sheesh make a official FAQ on repairing weapons. I can't afford to buy weapons all the time. It's ahrd enough using a lesser quality scatter now.

Any advice from the masters would greatly appreciated.

My friend,

As after patch, weaponsmith do have significance advantage for repairing weapons. I have repair like 30+ weapons and didn't fail once. The most criticals be only dropping 100-200 onmax condition, anyway those weaponsare only have cond 200 or lessleave before on my hand.

I guess this is the best place to post. All you nice weaponsmiths types out here..../ butter you up.

Are there any skill mods that make you better at repairing weapons then if you had none? I use a 99%tool, but I still destroy my weaps, or get marginal repairs. I'm too scared to repair my pre-nerf FWG-5.

And one more question. Is it easier to repair a weapon the newer it is?

As far as we know, these are the only factorsthat may help yourepair:

  • Be a Weaponsmith

  • Have as many +Weapon Repair skill tapes as you can find

  • Use 99FR kits

  • Summon Mama Tess for voodoo magic

A few publishes ago, the patch notes stated that the lower the condition of the weapon, the harder it is to repair. Personally, I've never noticed a significant difference in successful repairs; the success rate seems to be the same regardless of condition. If you're a Weaponsmith, I would recommend investing in Repair tapes and making yourself a "Repair Suit", to equip when repairing weapons. Weapon Repair tapes are pretty cheap, so it couldn't hurt to try.

Ace, have you run any tests with/without tapes? Or have we had a post here where someone has? I have tapes I use myself, but I've never really sat down and crunched any numbers to see if they actually help.

Anyone?

Nope. It'd be terribly hard to test unless I stumbled upon a +25 tape, or something. But it's worth a shot.

A Weapon Smith has the best averages in repairing your weapon by far. If possible find a Master WeaponSmith and have them do it. I myself do not charge for repairing weapons but some may charge a small fee.

Secondly, remember that it is still a 'roll of the dice' whether or not the repair will be successful. many things factor into theaction that inhibit a successful repair. I have found that the lower the overall condition of the weapon in comparison to its original condition the less likely I am to get a 100% repair. So if you first purchased the weapon at1000 condition and now it is 120 and you are trying to repair it, the less likely it will be repaired back to 1000. Other factors seem to have an impact also such as, sliced or unsliced.

lastly, I recommend repairing weapons at about the 1/3 mark. So if the weapon started at 1000 and is now around 325 it is time to attempt a repair. This way it has not degraded so much as to highly inhibit a 100% repair and if it does go wrong it is not that big of a problem, without repair you would have only have had the weapon a short time longer anyhow.

Remember weapons are a parishable item. If you use them they will degrade.

Hope this helped,

Wow... Hmm, neve actually gotten a 100% repair. closest I have had was the "minor blemish" and lost like 20 points from Max durability.

I haven't destroyed a weapon since I became master, I recently restored a weapons with 28/927 to 887/887 and I was sweating it cause it was a pre-patch Krayt FWG5.
