if i get MA, i will only be a 10pt. MA, i cant compete with 12 pt. so i will just spend time master Armorsmith, but the 12pt. smith's will have better armor, meaning i can't compete. So is it a waste of time...?

go out ang get your other 2 points so you can compete with the rest. It's the same delema every new crafter faces, he has to spend alot of time and money to get your self set up... I just recently mastered AS myself and I'm now 11pt, still gathering the resources and tapes to allow me to compete

I'm a 10 point and I compete just fine with 12 point AS. It's all about what you make and who you sell it to.

i agree... i'm was a 10 point smith and i specialized in wookiee armor... all teh other high end smiths wouldnt touch the hide and wood... so i was able to tap taht market and eventually grew and aquired my 12 points point by painful point... but now i have all these great resources i have gathered along teh way that i can fully utilize..

plus whats your rush.. where are you going?

I had no problem competing against 12 point smiths when I had only 10 points. You couldn't tell a difference really.

If you have garbage resources. of course you won't be able to compete.

/getting sick of AS's thinking they need 12points to be competitive

yeah... the only downside is ham.. or base on pvp stun.. but if you price accordingly theres no big difference... people also need to keep in mind that its not just 12 points = uber .... you have to understand experimentation and your resources...

Its more about resources than points. If you have good resources you will have no problem selling your armor. A 12 pt smith has three advantages. None of which are game breaking to the 10 pt smith:

1. They can make better stun layered armor. (But not everyone pvps and cares that much about stun protection) with good crism and good resources you can make 80 Electric 20+ Stun and 70 base which would sell for a lot.

2. They can make lighter armor. For those who prefer to hunt unbuffed or who have problems with their mind pool (like tkms & riflemen) this can be a factor. But the effectiveness of doc, dancer and food buffs is so strong when stacked that most people don't care about encumbrance and will trade a mediocre effectiveness slice for a 33% encumbrance slice anyday.

3. They can do more with less than optimal resources. Putting points into condition will bump the base for some armors when base is maxed.

On the whole though, to sell armor you don't need any of that. If you can make 80 80 70 comp or 80 70 with elect layers and 70%+ ubese and padded of any quality then people will buy it. Wookies are less discriminating. If you can make 80 60 kaash they will buy it. I have always had only 10 pts. I have 0000 merchant. I have no cashflow problems.

As far as competing goes, well Bill Gates never made the best software, he was just in the right place at the right time. Put your vendor in a central location and keep it stocked and you'll be able to buy those 2 extra points if you ever feel you need them.

You can compete with 12Pts. Just focus on standard PVE composite, you ll just have more ham than other (and 99% on your customers dont care about HAM).

Grinding PSGs is hardly the best way to grind for xp, if master already, why do it anyway?

Need +20 in skill tapes to = +2 more experimentation points. AS dont get a crafting apron either.

YAY!

Location and resource quality and the ability to maximize those resources will always make a bigger difference then having 12 points imo. Location was the key for me.

I am a 10pt As and i do fine. Right now i am selling 73% Kinetic-Ubese, 80%Kinetic/79% Electric/68%base Composite. Also i am going to Start making other armor such as Padded, Tantel, Armorweave, etc. I won't make a ton of it, but i think people like the look of that stuff, and it works for everyday use. (if they would ever give out good wookie resources on Naritus i would make wookie armor too). I also have 38%Stun/65% base stuff to that i am selling. This isn't the most uber stuff in the world, but people buy it and i make money, plus it's fun which is the whole point.

Wookie Armor specialists are rare and prized. i was going that way, then our town lost two armorsmiths. kinda forced me to go Comp to keep business coming our way. Wookie armor is hard but if you can make it fair to great, wooks will line up for it. I made some old Wook Ceremonial armor out of leftovers. 60%KIN and lousy base. sold 4pcs sets for 120K. lasted 2 days. think i had like 40 or 50 suits
