Player Correspondent Opening: Armorsmith

· Are you knowledgeable about theArmorsmith profession?

· Are you a community leader?

· Can you objectively identify relevant issues and distinguish them from simply passionate arguments?

· Do you like organizing information and corresponding with other members of a community?

The Development Team is looking for a volunteer correspondent for the Armorsmith Profession. Participation is completely voluntary and you can stop helping out at any time. We’re just looking for someone who can help us sort through the various issues for this profession.

Some things that you need to consider when applying:

· Developing online games takes a long time. Results happen with long time involvement.

· Player Correspondents should be leaders in their community and set a positive tone.

· Player Correspondents should understand the technical aspects of playing the profession and the needs of their community.

· Player Correspondents should be in touch with the communities concerns, understanding the essence of why players pursue their chosen profession.

· Please include your forum name in the letter

If this is something you are interested in, please write a short paragraph on why you think you would be a good candidate and email it to [email protected]. Please put Armorsmith Correspondent in the Subject Line. By submitting this email to us, you agree to allow us to contact you in connection with Star Wars Galaxies and agree that all correspondence with and material submitted to SOE will be the exclusive property of SOE and SOE may use such materials without limitation and in its sole discretion.

After we have reviewed the submissions, we will pick one person to be our correspondent. We will set them up with a special community title here on the forums and ask them to help highlight for us the relevant issues relating to this profession.

We will still continue to monitor the forums and read as many threads as we can. The correspondent is just to help us focus on the top issues and community concerns of the profession.

Thank you.

*Note, please make your letter the main body of the text. E-mail attached items are automatically deleted as part of our spam filter….

not really fair - the correspondents are stepping down as the work load (especially for people like the armorsmith correspondent) will be insane in the next few months. A total revamp of armor = heavy heavy load. They are stepping down now so that the people they represent will be represented in the best possible way and not in a whole-hearted but limited way that they can.

So Applaud your correspondents and apply if you have the time (LOTS OF IT) and the knowledge to do the job.

Jaato has been planning on leaving the correspondent role for over a month now. It is no surprise that the Armorsmith position is opening up. Everyone here in the Armorsmith community wishes him well.

These are voluntary positions and it is only natural to have turnover. Show some respect for the profession leaders that devote many hours of their time to help make the game more fun and enjoyable by all with zero benefits returning to them. I am always impressed by the amount of effort some players put forth for this game, and I hope their population grows.

Maybe SOE should look into finding some way of making it more rewarding for correspondents to fill the role. It does seem like there is too much turnover in the program.

I would hope that SOE performs some sort of 'exit interview' to determine the root cause why people leave......but i doubt it.

Jaato you're the man! Just wanted to say thanks for all you've done around here and you're going to be missed. I doubt that anyone here knows as much about armor as you do.

Congrats on the new job and good luck with it. I'll be seeing ya around the Sandbox!

Hey everyone.

I just wanted to let you guys know that, while I doubt I will be picked, I decided to toss my hat into the ring.

I realize I am a fairly new Master Armorsmith (about a month now), but I did want to share a bit about myself.

Prior to being a crafter, I was involved a lotin a variety of professions - Creature Handler, Bio Engineer, Marksman, Pistoleer, Carbineer,

Rifleman, Merchant, Scout, Ranger, Brawler, Fencer, Swordsman, Medic, Doctor, Artisan, and now Armorsmith. I have been with this

game since launch, and have followed it since it was announced. I also have followed the progression of this game, back from when

griefing was to be handled by an "Outcast" system, up to the Combat Upgrade today.

Now, I know that doesn't speak very well of my knowledge of being an Armorsmith, so let me address that here. Ever since the inception of

RIS armor, I have always had an eye on Armorsmith. More importantly, I wanted to figure out how it worked, because I felt that by knowing

and learning how armorsmith worked, I could also work with my local Armorsmiths to help make the best possible armor for myself. I would

have to burden my Armorsmith in-game with less and less questions, and I could be more up to date on how resources work and the

results I could achieve. Let's just say I have Jaato's Guide to Armorsmithing bookmarked, as well as the entire Armorsmith forum.

So, I have always had an eye on Armorsmithing, and 2 Months ago, began the grind to AS, first by mastering artisan, then Armorsmith. In

fact, I am still in the process of collecting decent resources - I completed Armorsmith last month.

Finally, here is what I feel I have to offer all of you. Based on what I have seen in the Armorsmith forums, there is really an attitude of "I

make comp, why make anything else?" I understand it is for good reason - comp sells the best, is the easiest to make, and due to a flaw in

a bug fix, is the only armor that can hit 80% base without a NS layer or segment enhancer. No one can fault you for providing for the market

- supply and demand.

But Ibring a fresh perspective to things - I am for putting the time and energy and resources for seeing how far I can push the limits of

current armors other than comp, to see if it indeed leads to some groundbreaking results, and then share that knowledge so that perhaps

we as armorsmiths can widen our base of desired products beyond comp and the occasional ubese. I also, not initially being a crafter type,

have a good pulse on what non-crafters want out of armor, deeper than just the basic "I want protection."

In short, I think they likely will go with a more experienced armorsmith, but just be at peace that should I be made corrospondant, I will do

everything in my power to best represent your interests as armorsmiths to the developers, while also providing a counterbalance to keep in

mind the non-armorsmiths' involvement with the armor we craft.

Thank you all!

Zion Halcyon

P.S. - Good luck to you Jaato. I know your work well enough to know the next AS has some VERY big shoes to fill.

Good luck with your future endeavours!

I see every reason why every Corr has left since I came on board.

And your entire line of thinking is going the wrong direction. I have not seen one single person leave that would need an "exit interview" to get to some mysterious reason you are hoping forto see whythe program is failing. Quite frankly the program ismeant to havefresh faces (after a few months or so), along with keeping the Blue Glowies around of course

I really hate to see rumors spread, but at least this is so wrong we (the Corrs) should get a laugh out of it
