"NOOOOOOOOOO!"

Here's why:

- with lag in major starports it takes like 5-10 minutes

- in theory (although it's somehat undetermined) anyone can do it equally as well

- i don't want to destroy your 100k uber stun helm

- i don't want to explain to every person that a piece with a condition of -2387 is unrepairable

- i don't have the time

- i don't want to

- it's a pain in the @$$

- i dont need the 5k to do it

Sorry for thebad attitudebut i receive maybe 10-15 tells a day asking me to do this and it gets old. Buy a repair kit off the bazaar or from an artisan and do it yourself. Plus i've had some bad experiences.. One time a dude actually ran circles around me and said "Any day now!" I almost destroyed his armor on the spot. No more repairing for me. Flame on!

Yeah, last guy I had ask to repair armor, I had to chase him all around the map (he was in Theed, so I shuttle there from Endor, then hes in a player city, then hes in Coronet, and finally I caught up with him on some sort of raid on Yavin.)

i had a really bad day with repair tells one time, worse then normally, i finally said whatever and told a guy 25k for repairs, and he asked why so much, so i told him that its a pain and all the other normal blah blah and he said ok and he would pay, had a moderate repair, and the guy was like ok thanks, and left, i was thinking good, he will go tell all his friends and i wont be bothered, the next day he sent me a mail and wanted me to fix his whole suit......

turning the tag off doesn't help for me. I dropped AS a LONG time ago on Kiradon, and I still get tells for repair... it's terrible. I'm still MAS on an alt, but it has her name on the armor now, not Kiradons . I use 99.5% repair tools, and my finding is that whatever a repair is for one piece, it will be the same for the whole tool. usually, if a tools fails on #1, it will do so on all, or minor blemish, same thing. I use 99.5% tools that're quite old, but I repair for free, even if it isnt my own armor. i just let them know it doesn't always work

They answer "No"
I reply "Armor repair fails 30% of the time for a Master Armorsmith with a perfect tool no matter what the condition of your armor. If you accept that as a possibilty the cost is 5k per item attempted."
Most guys respond and say that they'll wait and get their armor repaired later. If they say go ahead I give them the coordinates of where I am and tell them to bring the armor to me.
A lot of guys appreciate the information and later become loyal customers because I was the only one to explain things to them. If as MAS you don't care to type this out a lotmake an email FAQ explaining armor repair and everytime somone sends you a tell, send them your Armor repair FAQ.

That is nice think I'll macro that. I don't mind repairing armor if I'm not busy, I just hate when people don't understand the system and freak out over a bad repair.

I'm a tailor, so we don't really deal with repairs. But my armor is starting to look a bit beat up and wanted to repair it. But from reading this post, it sounds like I have just as good a chance of repairing it as an AS does. Am I right in that assumption?

I dread this question almost as much as requests for Padded Armor.

Almost.

yes, buy yourself a nice 100% tool, and cross your fingers (the 100% aren't really 100% btw...)

Ha ha. Yeah the other day a dude came up to me and asked if I could repair his armor. I replied that I didn't do that and explained nicely that he could go buy a repair tool. Then he goes "Do you make padded armor?" I said I didn't take custom orders, nor do I make Padded. (I need a macro for the explanation on hides and how much of a pain it is to get resources, too!) Then he asks, well whatDO I do? I laughed to myself and thoughthe kinda has a point there but told him to read my bio for all of the information on the armor I make. Of coursethen my next biggest pet peeve hits:

Him: "Oh by the way your prices are too high on that Ubese. Joe Blow makes it for half price."

Tip: If you are not friends with a crafter, don't comment on his/her prices. If the crafter is selling something at a certain price, chances are, people are buying at that price, otherwise the crafter wouldn't be selling it at that price... and around and around we go. If Joe Blow sells at that price, GO BUY IT FROM JOE BLOW! Thank you.
