Thread: Can you repair my armor?

One time a dude actually ran circles around me and said "Any day now!" I almost destroyed his armor on the spot. No more repairing for me. Flame on!
95% of the time I'll repair someones armor and not charge for it. Many people tip, some don't. The other 5% would be if I'm otherwise occupied and am in a hurry. Say a friend is logging and I want a buff before they go. Or I'm in the middle of fighting a Kimo/Geonosian...etc. Don't ask when the shuttle lands though...unless I'm truly bored, you'll have to follow me to my destination. (Maybe I'm different, but...I HATE WAITING FOR SHUTTLES!!!)
I would gladly take the time to make your AUK schematic. Probably chat a bit about getting some stuff sliced in the future too. Maybe set up a consistant business relationship.
I always ask if the person knows there's a chance for failure. And...No...I won't replace any broken pieces. I also refuse to repair any thing that has hardly any damage. If it's 32000/34000, most likely the repair will do more damage than good. Wait til it's around 50%...17000/34000.
On a good note. I seem to be having good luck lately with repairs. Out of the last 5 full suits, I think I've only lost 2-3 pieces. Many of the pieces were very close to 0 too.
If I'm standing in coronet waiting for a 9 minute shuttle, I usually ask the croud if anyone needs any repairs just to be nice. I only stay long enough for the shuttle to come, then after that I say sorry, but I gotta go. Usually people don't seem to mind and I haven't had any rude customers yet.
It is a great way for me to get my name out as a master armorsmith as I have only recently become one and am having a fun time competing with the big ones who have been armorsmiths on my server since it opened up last summer.
If a piece breaks, I suggest to them to visit my shop for a replacement part that's priced very competivley
Buffa,
I'm Master Armorsmith and Master Weaponsmith so I get hit with both. Still, unless the player is a complete buffoon I do the repair for free. I just tell them to purchase their next suit or weapons from me.
But... coming out of the Corvette tonight having gone their with guildmates... one of them checks his chestpiece and notes the beating it took. I immediately told everyone to check their armor and started handing out the tools. I didn't do their repairs, I just gave them the tools to do it themselves. It made me chuckle, though. I didn't charge them for the tools, their guildies and I want their armor to last.
That's just it... I went into armorsmithing not to get wealthy (what is a forturne in pixels worth?) but because I like crafting and I figured I could help people defensively. Practically giving away my repair tools is part of that. I don't make them free or super-cheap because I do actually use quality resources in them and make them the best I can (master artisan *grin*) and because I know people think free stuff is crap *laugh*. Heck, half the time I give away the rest of a tool with the armor repair I just did... well.. more to save inventory space than from anything altruistic *snicker*.
I just hate the ones who come up with 0, 1/1 or negative condition stuff. Worse is seeing that crap for sale on a vendor or the bazaar waiting to ensnare someone unknowledgable. *sigh*
