I’m getting some weirdness when experimenting my latest batch of wookiee hunting armor. Wonder if anyone might have some insight.
I started with a 31% base 11% kinetic 13% energy 5% stun advanced segment and 4% padding. In the final combine on a chest plate, I reached 79 kinetic 80 energy 68 base once I had fully experimented the middle row (quality) to 79%. I put my last three points (I’m a 12 point smith) into the bottom row to boost condition and get the last little bump to push kinetic to 80. Worked fine. Final piece is 80 kin 80 energy 68 base 5 stun.
I move on to the leggings. Things are the same except that I’m getting 67 base instead of 68 because there are no bones used in the legs and bracers. Still getting 79 kinetic 80 energy in special once I’ve fully experimented the middle line. I put my last points into the bottom row expecting the kinetic to jump to 80.
It didn’t. And bracers turn out the same way, 79 kinetic.
Not to be undone by this event, I said fine, these segments work for the chest; I’ll boost the kinetic on them for the other pieces.” I make some 31 base segments with 12 kinetic instead of 11 figuring that will give me the point I needed in kinetic to hit 80 regardless of any points spent in the top or bottom line.
But no, after experiment the middle row fully, I still got 79 kinetic 80 energy on a pair of leggings. Again, putting points in the bottom row did NOT bump the kinetic to 80. Same with the bracers.
I’m through messing around now. I make 31% base 13 energy 14 kinetic layers and try those in a bracer. Now I get 80 kinetic 79 energy 67 base when I fully experiment the middle row (to 78%). Now why would energy actually drop? I put the last three points into the third row, and I finally get the bump to 80 energy. I move to the leggings, and I’m back in the same boat. I’m getting 66% base 80% kinetic and 79% energy when I experiment the middle row to 77%. Again, putting points into the bottom row does not provide the final bump.
Anyone have any insight into what is going on here? I’ve been using the same resources and padding throughout the process.

I had a similar issue a awhile back. I will post the stats of my layers and segments tonight when I log in if someone else hasn't helped out by then.
Sometimes when I hit an amazing on the first experimentation (of the full bar of base) it will actually hurt my experimentation and not allow me to get the last experimentation point into base. Not sure if this is a similar issue or not.
How many points are experimenting at a time and are you getting greats or amazings?

It takes nine points to max out the base of the armor using six points, then two, then one. Then the last three at once into the bottom row (putting one and then two in the bottom row didn't change things). The story I told above was with all great successes. Yes, throw an amazing in there and you'll really screw things up so I just cancelled those.

As I understand, it's because of different resourcesweight in different parts. Same strange things happends with padded: chest plate can be 78% , and gloves( with all the same res. and segments)only 77%.

Correct. Same with the beyrllius copper in composite. But I'm talking about the basic behavior of the experimentation process here. Hunting armor experiments like comp; putting points into the upper or lower bar kicks the special up a notch after you max the base. That's not happening here in some cases. I hit 79 in special when the base is maxed, but I'm not getting that extra kick. Plus boosting the kinetic resist in the segment is having an odd effect.

The insanity continues . . .
I'm also working on 80 kinetic 39 stun hunting armor chestplates. Using 27% base 14% kinetic 39% stun segment, I hit 78% kinetic which jumped to 79 when I put my remaining points in the top line. Okay, I said, I need more kinetic out of the segments.
I keep experimenting the new segment until I get an amazing success that gave me 27% base 18% kinetic. In the final combine, maxing the base gives me 64% base on the armor and only 79% kinetic. And putting the remaing points into the top row had no effect on that 79%.
Any idea what's going on here, folks?

It is an error in the algorithim. You should never see any special resist increase when you expt durability. I think they decided to not fix in favor of making the new code for the combat upgrade. It is an old issue that was known and appears to have been swept under the rug.

ive noticed the same phenomenon when making kash hunting segs... some hit 31% base others 32% base... very irritating when making chestplates with janta hides (70% base from 71% base is very large in slicing process)

That may be so but that's the way composite experiments now (once you've maxed the base) and so did hunting armor. But ignore that for now and just think about the 39 stun armor that hit 78 kinetic once the base was maxed. Why wouldn't the kinetic resist hit 80 once the kinetic resist on the segment was bumped four points?

Putting points in the upper or lower bar updates the resists from your last experimentation.
Its a VISUAL bug.
If you max base it will display incorreclty, but if you then finish the crafting you will see the correct stats.
If you max base and continue experimenting the display updates correctly.
The differences you see in crafting the hunting armor is due to the differing amounts of resources used. For example the chest uses far more dath wood and lokian leather than the other pieces in addition to the dant bones.

Okay, Gallio, you might be on to something. I certainly accept the fact that the base will vary a point or two between pieces. My chest plates have always been a point higher than the leggings and the bracers. My composite tends to be pretty consistent, but then we have pretty decent beryllius.
But the base is not what's concerning me. If you look back at my posts, you'll see that I have been trying to boost the special resist in the segment WITHOUT changing the base, pulling points from HAM and condition to do so.
In the 39% stun armor, I hit 79 kinetic on the first attempt. I then bumped the kinetic in the segment by 3 percentage points and still hit 79 in special resist. The base of the segments stayed the same, and I used the same materials. THAT'S what has me puzzled.
Something similar was happening with the 80/80 stuff. I'd hit 80 energy but only 79 kinetic. When I boosted the kinetic in the segment enought to hit 80 kinetic in the armor, I got 79 energy. And that's without changing the energy resists in the segments.
I must be missing something big. If someone can explain it, use small words and type slowly.

Just so you know, Base + Special = final. This is true for kinetic as well as anything else like energy. There are decimals that you can not see, so 13%eng and 66% base can be 80% or 79%. For whatever reason youdon't get that final bump to the fullpercent in special unless you experiment in resist or durability. An amazing success will some times change this.I've made a lot of wookiee armor by hand, and amazings seem to change things a bit from piece to piece. Soodd things happen.
