I appreciate everyone's attempt to help. I've been armorsmithing since I was sucked in by the free trial last summer. I've got all the basic AS tricks down: 75+% ubese, triple 80 composite, light stun kinetic comp, all the usual suspects. I have hunting armor on my vendor now that's 80 kinetic 80 energy 5 stun, which is what I'm trying to achieve with this latest batch. I don't think this problem is due to any lack of understanding on my part on how to experiment.

Yes, there are hidden decimals. My layers are actually 4.66% base, for example. But these decimals are additive; they don't subtract from an armor's resist. And yes, the the special resist stacks on top of the base. So say you had put three stun layers in a hunting segment, maxed the base, bumped the kinetic a bit, and put the rest of the points into HAM. Then in the final combine, you hit 79% kinetic in the special. What would you do? You'd either try to raise the base of the segment, which in my case would take a double amazing, or you would raise the kinetic on the segment a little more, right? I was able to move points out of HAM (the top line) and put them in the special (bottom line) to raise the kinetic from 11% to 14%. That should have easily moved the kinetic in the final combine from 79 to 80, right? But it didn't and I don't know why.

Thanks for jumping in, DevilPuppy. Nope, the base on all the segments I've been using has been fully experimented, and I've been using the same materials and layers and only using great successes. Only after filling the base then did I put points into HAM or kinetic. The first segments for the 39 stun armor were 27 base 11 kinetic 39 stun, and they hit 79 kinetic. The second set of segments were 27 base 14 kinetic 39 stun but still wouldn't go past 79. Frustrating stuff. I may have recovered enough from this aggravation to make another attempt at this stuff this afternoon.

Okay, I think I should quit whining about the 39 stun armor.

I reran some unlayered segments to check my math again. Maxing base and special on the segment gave me 18 base 14 kinetic. The test bracer came out 54 base 69 kinetic. Three 3/13 stun layers should only get the kinetic to 78, so I'm lucky to be seeing 79. Guess I'll break out some janta hide.

But my plan for 80 kin 80 energy 5 stun should work. I'm using two 4/7 energy layers (should be 4.72 base according to Armorsmith's Little Helper) and a 4/5 stun layer (4.44). I can expect a 13 point bump in the armor base to 67 and a corresponding 13 point bump in the kinetic to 80 with change to spare. Energy resists on the layers should be 7.7 (again, according to the Helper) easily giving me 14 or 15 points to hit 81 there. But for some reason, I can't get both kinetic and energy to hit 80.
