Someone told me, long long ago, that these were being made. Well, here we are, so i guess they aren't. Do you guys think these would be worth adding? Some of my best armor i wouldn't mind giving a new paint job...

I see the benifits to them, but if they were added I wouldn't want them to be so anyone could use them. I make a good part of my money on custom orders for custom colours and if there was a kit to colour the armor I'd want it to be an AS only use tool not like the bike and droid colouring tools. Say maybe novice AS could use them and then you could make money with the profession while your grinding up to master... This would mean we wouldn't lose money as a profession on custom orders as we could gain it by customising current suits.

We noticed that 98% of the playerbase was going with one core choice,
so we have eliminated "paper" and "scissors" and are now offering a new,
exciting choice based on the iconic "Rock."

There never was such a thing. What happened was a long time ago a patch went in that caused everyones comp armor to become silver. (I should say everyones armor because this is all that was worn.) To fix it they gave everyone the option to recolor comp armor. Comp was the onlytype of armoryou could change the colors on. It wasn't supposed to be in but for a few weeks however it was never removed until the CU.

Oh i know about that, i meant something for all armor. Why not implement a Kit that Armorsmiths make that can change armor color?

you know, I just had a thought hit me, and no, it didn't hurt. As for the color-changing of the Comp armor like Pre-CU, Armorsmiths should be able to change the color of ANY armor, outside of the crafting process. Of course, it doesn't do much good, if your customer can't see it. So what if you can change the color of the armor, through a duel window similar to what Image Designers have. The Customer can see the changes being made, and the Color Palette to they can specifically choose the colors they want, but will still require an armorsmith to be needed. Just a thought

i agree, the kits might be ok, BUT only smiths of a certain level shold be able to use them, maybe some lvl 4 skill.

Why couldn't smith's just be able to make them? The whole point was so that the player could choose.

People would find the cheapest smith who mass produce armor in custom colors and just buy his stuff, instead of buying from the smith who renders a good service of eiter custom making armor or takes the time to help.

I think its a good thing that people who just want standard armor can go to the mass producers, but people who want something special shuold go and make an interaction with the smith.

If the smith wont take the time to customize the armor i dont think he should cover that market at all.

You guys are paranoid. I bet you anything your vendor sale swould increase if they had this. You would still get all your custom orders in the way of stats... let the customer change his colors if he wants to. They did spend thier hard earned credits on it.
As long as an AS can still make them, I would support it.

I'm still 100% in favor of armor colorization kits. The argument that they would hurtsmall "custom" crafters just doesn't hold much water, IMO.

It would hurt "custom" armorsmiths, but it's stupid that our "custom" armorsmiths are called such only because they make certain colors. That's what tailors do. We need content so we can add things to our armor other than health. More loot drops to do different things. Have the ability to only add a few per piece (like it's already coded in) and let the "custom" armorsmiths be able to make real customizations and make color kits for customers (and be added in for a good grind piece to replace the AUKs).

the sad fact is we're never going to get anything else... we might get thrown a couple of schems by way of impossible quests inside of expansions that you have to buy to even be able to look at the objects, if you do not buy the expansion you aren't even allowed to look at the armor in question (people are just wearing default appearance "?" boxes)

ok sry just getting frustrated by the sad state of affairs

We do need content to fill in and use instead of health enhancers, heck, if they put in enough other types of enhancers, we might even be able to pick up the health enhancers for something other than 3 or 4 million for one stack needed to make +350.

LizzyD is right, color kits would make an excellent replacement for the AUKS for grinding, and would allow many who have stacks of armor that they couldn't sell because they chose a bad color for it, sell it and actually do business. Look at swoops and spaceships, does their market hurt because the end user can set the colors and not the crafter? And what about the guys that buy a suit of armor off of a vendor and decide they don't likethe color it came in, should they have to buy another suit to replace it in a color they like more?

We don't need more mindless paranoia about some new item wrecking the economy. What we need is everyone to come to an agreement about what we want the devs to do with our profession. Myself, I feel there is nothing wrong with color kits, we should have enhancers to add to armor other than health (be nice if a few of the enhancers were crafted by us and other crafting professions), maybe add in a backpack to sell suits in that will let the buyer look in the pack before they buy or a manikin that you put the armor on in order to sell on the vendor, and of course, one we can all agree on I believe would be adding back in more lines of experimentation, so that there is a point to being 12pt again, and we can have various types of specialization in armor crafting.
