Thread: Is anyone having fun anymore?

I love the common core thing, heartily dislike the lack of experimentation options. The common core advantage was also partially offset by the addition of cores, why not just have dsegments be the final subcomponent like before?
Enhancing armor is a royal pain due to identical core requirements - it would be nice to take some of the sting out of this process.
All in all, I still have fun, but I really wish there were still experimentation tradeoffs and maybe more variety in layering like before. A whole lot of thought was removed by the CU changes and replaced mostly with tedium. I'm not dumb, I like to think rather than repeat the same thing over and over ![]()
For them to actually fix the armor crate color bug would get me crafting again, but really they dumbed it down so amazingly and now well have to get a buff too to be able to compete (if we dont have the best ever resopurces).
They really should fire the devs and get some who didnt get fired from WOW for not having any imagination.
pfft!
Not really, armor has become tedius and logn winded not to mention expensive to create...
i mean really whos idea was it to make 1000 layers turn into 249 segs and 83 cores? thats 8 sets of armor folks, now if you use uber stuff to make great armor for folks, as i do it gets very expensive. Not to mention all the factory run times now just to make layers, segs, cores.....likea 5 day turnaround time from start to finish? The armorsmiht professon has seen no love since the beggining of swg when they allowed armor to be crafted i have had a master armorsmith since the time the profession started.. and do nto recall seeing any love from devs, or for that matter any dev interest at all.... they are more concerned with giving bountyhunters all the love, making it too easy to get jedi so now we have 900000 jedi noobs...Now they will be workin on how to slow that up, oh yeah they did... exp gain nerf... anyway i think as payin customers our input shoudl be heard more then it really is.....thats just my opinion...have a great day.
may the schwartz be with you..

I'm gonna be Nit Picky because i can.
SWG technically stands for Star Wars Galaxies, so Screw SWG technically is 4 words.
I've cut back to one account. I thought I was helping myself out with the extra accounts, but I've enjoyed cutting back to just one and focusing on the business. I've been able to spread the wealth a little and that hasn't hurt me a bit.
Right now my challenge is keeping my vendors stocked with a nice variety of armor and doing custom orders. It's forcing me to interact a bit more with fellow players. So far it's been good. I also don't spend as much time in game, and that's helping with the burnout factor.
I know we've got bugs, but the sad thing is there are crafting professions worse off than we are (I'm thinking DEs). Long promised profession revamps (smuggler, ranger, squad leader) have been moved to long-term implementation. We've got a really bad bug (let's just call it the 1 Bug) and the factory thing. If we got those fixed, I'd be happy not to receive any attention for a while. Attention is often not a good thing.
Bottom line: I don't think we're going to be seeing any major changes to armorsmithing for a while. Make your peace with that, but continue to put good ideas out there. I don't know of anything other game that compares to SWG's crafting and its economy. They will have to dumb it down a lot more before it totally loses its appeal (not saying they won't). If you aren't having fun, make a radical change or take a break. Quit if you must or vent your frustrations here in the forum. You know there's always someone here to listen.
Pyke stole a bit of my thunder, but I'm still having fun. Sure, it's not the same now as it was when I was stocking four or five different composite armor builds, and the experimentation is a bit duller, but I'm having fun. Honestly, was the previous system all that great? Not particularly. There was a bit of experimental complexity when using multiple layer types, or if you were trying to balance encumberance vs. resistance, but by and large the previous system consisted of dumping all points into base resistances, then putting the leftovers into encumberance.
I wouldn't dump on Blixtev at all, either. That's not to say I'm a huge fan of the new system (I'm not), but let's face the fact that the dumbed down armor system was a direct result of overall design choices made with the CURB. Yeah, the first iteration of the armor crafting we saw in the CU beta was a load of junk, but Blixtev was a lot more responsive to our concerns than most other professions' developers, and it ended up being something workable.
So, why am I still having fun in the face of all this doom-and-gloom? Well, I think attitude has a lot to do with it, for one. I'm here to have fun, so by-golly, I'm going to have fun! I'm doing more custom orders now, and interacting with more people (whom I hadn't previously met) than I ever have in my previous two years of armor crafting. I'm making more types and appearances of armor. I'm engaged in the player economy and providing a needed commodity for the general galaxy public along with my in-game friends.
We could certainly be a whole lot worse off, particularly when you consider the state of many other professions and crafters in the game. Yeah, we have a couple big bugs, one of which is a lot worse than the others, but beyond those, as long as you know what you're doing, you should be in good shape. There are some things I'd like to see added or addressed, but on the whole, things are going OK.
Just my 2cr.
Im enjoying myself, but im new and never experienced the profession pre-cu...but I have a spot in a very busy mall (shop at sena's beachfront mall!
) and business is brisk even though ive only had my vendors down a week.
Obviously we could use some devlove, but currently almost all my time is now spent on AS or on my combat toon looking for AS components/resources.
I am really new to the AS proffesion, but here is my observations.
I seem to spend more time looking for good resources than actually playing nowadays.
The grind to the first box is SOOOOOO SLOOOOOWWW, I have managed to sell loads of Bone armor, and I am still only 13000 xp towards the 25000 i need for the first box (not sure which one to pick yet so any help is great)
It costs so much to set up that it is unbelievable!!!
