Thread: 70% Base Is Impossible

After nearly 2 months of hunting and gathering, I have managed to amass a fairly impressive array of resources, in quality if not quantity.
Today I set out to make some of the incredibly high base armor that I have been hearing so much about but have not yet had the pleasure to see. I was using resoucres with pretty decent stats for Energy layers (b/c right now that's my best stuff) and managed to get the Base on the Energy layer exprimented all the way out to 95%.
Took three of these layers and put em in an advanced compo layer expirmented that base out to 34++%
Took the Advanced Comp layer and plunked it down in a set of gloves. Expirimented out to 68% Base and STILL HAD 2 POINTS LEFT (keep in mind im still a lowly 10pt smith so this is pretty decent for me.)
"Oh Boy!" I think to myself gleefully, "70% Base here I come!" I plunk the first point in; the 68% doesn't budge. "Okay, maybe some screwy decimals somewhere" I look around hopefully and grab my poly cake and finest bespin port. After a quick swig and a bite, I get back to work. I plunk the second point in AND IT STILL DOESN'T MOVE PAST 68%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What gives? I'm rather upset and confused at this point. If anyone has some advice as to why this seems to be happening I'd love to hear it. I see people write about 80% Specials with 70-71% base all the time on the forum. Im confused because I had 68% and 2 pts left and they didnt do a damn thing, so what's the point?

It's all about the resources, 34% on the segments is good - so your final combine must be letting you down....
71% or more is possible, you just need better resources.

71% is easy possible I make it as normal runs for vendor.... I also make 34% base on my segment... but you end resourse fall short in the final production fase, I experiment till 89% on the end roll still got 3-4 points over 12pt smith...
80% kinetic and 71% base makes around 800/725/800 Enc also....
But Resourse counts... Heavy in maken and you don't need 12pt AS only make some good Enc suits

There are 72% base on my server. Also eat the stuff before you craft or it shouldnt take affect.

yes godly does =( makes me sad when i shop for armor and then take a look at my armor 30% stun 62% base dam 10 pt AS i am

I'm a 10pt smith as well and can now hit 70% base.
It is very hard but I think it's possible your final 2 experiments are working against you.
Rather than putting the last two points in one at a time, put them both in together.
I have had a lot of bad results from using 1 point at a time and the 70% base can drop to 68% if I do it that way.
Of course you may be at the cap for the specific resources (If thats possible)
Look at your resources and identify the weak link, then use all your time to improve it.
Every resource improvement makes a small difference (even 1 higher)
Keep at it, it and you will get there soon.

I thought the same for a long time. I talked with Maji (Our server's premier MAS) and got some tips from her. Although i always hit 69%. Then I talked with her again and she pointed out that my Colat stinks. I found some I had stashed that was slightly better by 100 in SR and *BINGO* 70% base.

Okay, so if the final assembly is my weak link, can someone plz take a quick look at these resources and suggest which one it is, or which combo? I'm havin a tough time finding any that are much better at the moment, but if I could get a lil shove in the right direction that would def help.

I suppose more familiarity with past resource spawns would help, but then again I've only been in game for 2.5 months now.

Bingo! Beryillius Copper is DEFINITLY your weak link, your OQ should be over 800 at the very least. You could also stand to get some better Intrusive Ore as well. Getting 900+ in OQ and SR shouldn't be that difficult.

Ouchy! Well, I guess I just thought cause I never saw much better than 400's that it was capped there for some reason.

Also, the same thing goes for your aluminum as your ore. You should be able to get some better scores there as well. I think the Emig on my server has a SR of 800+. Keep a vigil watch on SWGCraft.com although don't totally rely on it. Remember... the resources are reported by players.
