The crafting system itself sounds interesting though but this "forced faction" is not my cup of tea.

We are forcing you to take a stand in the War to supply factional armor to that side. No one is forcing you to join the GCW if you don't want to, you just won't have the benefits of being able to make and sell factional armor.

Factional points are obtainable in space, ground combat or via a nice friendly local Smuggler. I am sure the Smuggler's will appreciate the influx of new customers.

The reason ths customer needs to spend faction points when they Bio-Link the armor is because the schematic packs are fairly inexpensive to the Smith. We still want the faction cost of the armor to be about the same as it currently is. So it was split up partially between the supplier and the end User. As to what the market price of Armor Cores becomes, that remains to be seen.
Again if you do not want to participate in the GCW, you don't have to.

Why exactly do you want it to cost the same as before? Faction armor now in live costs about 2million c's to buy, thats around the cost of how much faction points it takes to get it. If you were to grind it all out in faction points it would take quite a while.

If it costs about the same faction points as it currently is, why should i even wear faction armor? It would be easyer to buy the non faction armor I can wear-- then faction armor that costs a crap load of fation points that protects and decays the same as non faction armor.

This is starwars. I would think you would want as many people as you can wearing faction armor. You want it to look like we are playing starwars. Having a group of factioned players all decked out in faction armor is cool. Having it cost a ton of faction points to get this look is not. I just want to wear faction armor, why keep making it harder to do. If your in a faction, you should want to wear that over the regular civilian armor, There should be some reason to do so.

Also, if you want to roleplay as say an imperial, you cant wear armor. Say your doing an event and want to look like a scout trooper but only have say stormtrooper armor cert. too bad I guess huh? Yeah, you could grind out all the combat professions for the 3 armor certs but yeah right. Just to wear armor? Just let anyone who wants to wear armor wear it. If you dont want everyone to have the protection of the armor at certin levels of advancement, just make it so they dont get the protection of the armor or move slower or get half of the protection or something. Some people just want to wear armor for looks sometimes.

The crafters will never get armor certs if they get no combat skills and most dont. They can wear PSG but those die in a few hits and wont offer enough protection im sure. Im talking about crafters who have harvisters and factorys. They need armor to survive the attacks of enemys that love to gather around the harvisters and factorys and attack the crafters. You shouldnt have to get buffed and take a group of players with you just to check these things. Armor is a way not to die and have a chance to run away and live if you get in trouble.

And on a side note, instead of this non starwars new rebel armor... it would have been better to just add rebel clothing/helmet armor from the movies instead. This is starwars and it would be better to include something people see rebels wearing from the movies instead of imaginary stuff you guys or LA made up for the game. I know that rebels in the movies didnt have full armor to match the empire but so what, who cares. This new rebel armor doesnt look like it belongs in starwars. Just get 3 types of rebel clothing from the movies and call that the rebel armor. Put protection on it to match the 3 types of imperial armor.

This game has no longer became fun for me. I do not see it ever getting better. Goodbye Tempest and Eclipse. Salute SiN Guild.

I am a smuggler who specializes in selling HQ sliced pvp armor. My vendors are fully stocked all the time which means I have invested some money in armor.

Many of the well known armorsmiths on my server also have an abumdance of armor on thier vendors to keep up with the demand.

I'm very worried as to what will happen with all my armor.

The way I'm looking at it, we prob are going to get screwed in this conversion. But... that also means anyone with armor right now is going to need a new set after the CU goes live.

We just have to see how they new penalties are going to work.

I'm praying for a bone equivalent...haven't read much about the less used armors. Seems factional armor will be the big focus.

I just hope armorsmiths can craft factional armor or else we're getting shafted. We might as well give up armorsmith if the best armor in game is obtained thru FP and recruiter only.

as i heard it its made with schems, we make the armor, they bring the schems (or we find the schems and sell the armor)

Schematics are bought in 10 use schematic packsfrom the recruiter by the Armorsmith using faction points , you must be in the faction and a master armorsmithand have enough points to buy them. You can then put a core into the appearance and sell the faction armor. The Buyer must Bio-Link the armor to their bodies by spending faction points from a menu that pops up the first time they try and equip the piece. Bio-Linked armor can be traded by only equipped by the person it is linked too.

How many FP does it cost the AS to get the schematics and how much does it cost to put it on. Also will alien AS have to pay more to get the schematic? If so how much more. Also it wasn't clear can I trade the Armor or resale after i have Bio'd it?

It seems there is a messy relationship to be had between armoursmith's and smuggler's here.

Wouldnt it work out cheaper if the smugglers could also purchase the schematics since we get faction discounts instead of the possibilty of armoursmiths having to purchase FP through delegation if they cant "fight" for the FP.

I'm guessing bio-linked bascially stops reselling and is only tradable so people can have their equipment sliced/repaired.

"bio linked" faction armor ??? Wth is 'bio linked' armor ??? come on !

Resources, rares, armor certs...NO reliable documentation being posted 4-5 weeks before this 'upgrade' goes live ? WHAT are you people thinking ?

I will make the armor crafting/wearing process revisions for SWG very simple for you ... just like in RL armored combat ... ANYONE can wear ANY armor...Some can't wear it effectively, some are encumbered...Using RL experience, certain profs would therefore get BONUSES wearing certain armor types/classes...Bonuses, folks...Not 'certifications'...This nonsense about armor/weapon certs and apparently now 'bio linking' our faction armor is pure game mechanics control rubbish...How tough is this to get right?

Another of my pet peeves...MANY MANY players have spent MONTHS and MILLIONS of credits collecting the dozens of ultra-rare resources/rares for RIS...now I apparently need to be a novice carbineer or something to wear ALL of the armor I craft ??? ... Do you realize that becoming a 12 pt, RIS-certified MAS isan Armorsmith'send game...? We don't go combat profs or jedi for a reason...We love the craft...! and we love being able to show off our wares...!

Re-think this, Devs...Re-think it seriously....I have been here since launch and founded one of the largest Imp guilds on Chilastra back in summer '03 with well over 150 players, about half of which are crafter accounts/alts...I have been a MAS since Nov '03...and to be honest have loved it and have stuck with SOE thru thick and thin! I (and a good portion of our crafting members of our guild) will be gone by June '05 ascustomers if all this goes live...period...

Good lord...is SOEtrying to alienate all of the long time smiths/crafters out of SWG??? Some serious devlove needs to go into fixing this mess...

Peace
