Thread: Tantel vulnerabilities

Tantel is supposed to be vulnerable to blast, acid, electrical and stun. Once the vuln shift bug is fixed, those are the vulnerabilities we'll see persist. I am still trying to find out what the vulnerabilities of PSG's are supposed to be.

Really? That kind of sucks. I think if they want us to use the lower end armor they should make at least one of them resistant to stun. Especially with all the new stun guns they are adding to the game. Tantel would be perfect to have stun resists. Since no one wants to have it even though it looks pretty good.

that is something interesting. of all the armor types that we have how come there isn't one that has resists to stun. it just strikes me wierd that there are stun weapons but no stun resist armor except for stun layers.

i was also under the impression that psg and tantel were both types of armor that had no vulnerabilities and that was the cause of the stat shifting. i could be wrong on that but that's what i thought

Pffttt...figures.

I guess I don't have to worry about collecting avian bones or Bristley hide then.

It's only redeeming quality at this pointis that it can accept a layer.

pretty much makes Taniel even more useless than padded....

if they gave us the rest of the suit of armor, and an adv segment, we might be looking at something here. but even then, only maybe.

Tantel was supposed to be no vuln, that is why we only got 3 parts and why we didn't get any advanced. Making it have vuln, will again, trash another armor. How about you tell them to shove the armor then, because no one will make it with those vulns.

Seriously, why are we going through this for the one millionth time, this has been brought up more than I can count.

RIS, TANTEL and PSGs are supposed to have zero vulns. Period.

If they are changing it to be an utterly useless armor, at least toss it down to novice, and make mabari a higher armor, at least I can sell it when I make it.

Ah, Iwas thinkingI was imagining things with the originalidea's behindTantel and PSG'sBuckaroo,

From what I can recall...Tantel had variable resistances, dependingon the quality of the materials used and the smiths skill (a novice smith would have say 4-5 vulnerabilities, and a master smith would craft a suite with no vulnerabilities as long has he had high quality resourses)

PSG's were originaly supposed to have no vulnerabilities.

Dunno about RIS...but if its gonna have a vulnerability it should have AR2.

Sounds to me like "we don't have an easy fox for this so lets assign at least one vuln to it".

Can anyone point to any documentation from SOE that states these aren't vulnerable to anything?

There's been a small debate about this ever since our correspondant broke the news that there is no such armor.

Until I see something from SOE supporting those claims, I'll assume it was a myth propagated by the vuln shifting bug and spread by the armor using/making community.

It sucks, but it is what it is.

I've never seen anything official from SOE that stated that these armors will to have no vulnerabilities. I think that it's a myth that has perpetuated itself because people really want to believe that it's true. I don't think I helped the situation any with the version 2 of the Guide when I used some rather ambiguous language that could be read to say that Tantel, RIS and PSG's were not supposed to have any vulnerabilities.

I was informed yesterday as to what the vulnerabilities of PSG's are supposed to be. I'm just waiting on permission to release that information.

For some reason I'm betting Stun is one of them. I think it would be beneficial if it wasn't one though. It would certianly give people a reason to purchase AND USE PSGs, because of the low condition they're mainly only useful for PVP anyways. Stun being a protected damage type would be very beneficial.

I don't think it was ever published, but where is it published the specials and vulns for each armor type. The fact is PSGs, RIS and Tantel can be, and often are, crated with no vulns. These are also the only types of armors that have shifting vulns.

I think that these armors were originally not suppose to have vulns but it easier for the devs to add a vuln to them than fix the defective code.

Well I am wrong. This is from the adv game guide written by designer Ben Hanson

Shields also have an innate protection against Stun damage which no other crafted armor has.

However he also says:

Damage is first absorbed by the shield and whatever remains goes to the armor.

Despite this being said over and over, I have yet to see it actually work this way.
