Great, so by your statment at least we know that PSG's will have some Vulnerabilities. I'm hoping it's kinetic and/or acid only.

I think that these armors were originally not suppose to have vulns but it easier for the devs to add a vuln to them than fix the defective code.

I totally agree, Jaato, if we are getting the 4 vulns, can we get advanced, a complete set, and the ability for all races to wear the helm(along with the RIS helm)

Like I said earlier, if it is getting 4 vulns, tell the devs to shove the armor down to novice and give me an empty box withwhatever advanced segments fall into that box.

Name the box: Personal Armor II: Nothing, because the old armor sucks royally, and we remade it worse than before.

Seriously though, I think a whole "armor revamp" should be in the works, with community relations, like they have been doing with Smugler and now SL. If we are getting a shaft as a whole, I along with you and many other smiths would like to partake in our profession being redid somehow, whether ripping the interior out and replacing it with bricks instead of flowers or making it better and less encumbrance.

that previous post was pretty funny. You have my sense of humor, I can tell.

agreed, that tantel with these vunerabilities now sucks. The only reason I make it is so that when all my composite sells out of my vendor in like 30 minutes, something stays on it, so my vendor isn't completely empty.

It has so much potential too. i think I can get the resists up to like 40/20 without the layer. That would make a lightweight 54%/20% suit which would be nice for faction missions/some PvE, and light PvP. Add advanced panels and a full suit, and you are looking at a 54/30 suit with low encumberance. But now, with 4 vunerabilities, it is no good for PvP, and without a revamp, just another worthless armor with too much emphasis on the creature resources. Great. At least the Helmet is only wearable by 2 of the 8 races.

Oh well, hope is strong that PSG's will keep their stun resist, and my sales of IMP PSGs will pick up soon. Got like 600 of em sitting on my vendor.

I use shields all the time. They work fine for me. You just have to pick one that's not vulnerable to the damage being dealt.

You also may need to unequip.re-equip after shuttling or driving.

Are you saying that with armor on and a PSG that that damage is reduced twice? I've seen it in the combat log before, however the number that floats up only indicated that the armor was working, not both.

Yes. It should say something like....

57 damage reduced by PSG

115 damage reduced by helm

dwarf nunahits you for 35 damage

Hehe...them nunas are getting tough.

Coming a bit late to the discussion, but ...

The only one of those vulnerabilities that bothers me is the acid one.

IF, and this is a big if, Tantel were expanded to a full suit, given advanced segments, etc, it could easily serve as an energy-focused analogue for Ubese, perfect for running NPC missions and perhaps even some (very) light PvP.

But as it stands right now, so many NPCs (and PCs) use acid-based weapons, that you're left with a gaping hole that even a PSG (if the Kinetic/Blast/Acid vulnerabilities hold true for PSGs) cannot fill.

So, let's run a little thought experiment ...

Let's say we have been given advanced Tantel segments, and the pieces have been expanded to permit a full suit.

With good (not necessarily great or excellent) materials and no layer, we might expect to see something on the order of

60% Energy

15% Kinetic / Heat / Cold / Restraint

Now, we could add a high-quality energy layer and bump that up to around 75% energy, with the same base effectivenesses, or perhaps even bump up the kinetic to the 30% range. Not bad, but still outperformed for NPC combat by non-layered or "tri-layered lite", save for the encumberances.

We could eliminate the acid vulnerability and pump up the base resists with something akin to an 11/3 acid layer construction, but I'm still not thrilled with that.

Now, if acid were part of the base effectivenesses, then we could conceivably make a Tantel suit that looked something like this, if we were to use one high-kinetic layer.

50% Energy

40% Kinetic

30% Acid / Heat / Cold / Restraint

I'd say this would be worth making. And definitely worth using for the non-elite player.
