Thread: Armorless Armor and Sockets: Another CURB Concern

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away . . .

We had some very nifty products by the name of Ubese Shirts, Ubese Bandoliers, and Mabari Belts. Why were they so nifty? Well, while they counted as armor, they had no resists and, therefore, never got hit! What's more, they had no condition! To top it off, they could have up to four sockets, meaning you could place armor attachments in them and never have to worry about them decaying on you.

Several months ago ...

Ubese Shirts and Bandoliers suddenly had condition upon crafting. And while they still counted as armor, they were now treated as clothing as far as sockets and attachments went. Thus came the rise of the fabled "pre-nerf Ubese Shirt." Mabari Belts were, surprisingly, exempt from this change, and became the only non-decaying armor product capable of accepting armor attachments.

Fast forward to the CURB ...

Hands and feetare removed as valid hit locations, rendering armored gloves and boots pointless. As such, hand and foot armor in the new system have no stats and are merely cosmetic -- they are essentially clothes. One might think that the best use for these new pieces would be to accept armor attachments, much in the way that Ubese Shirts and Bandoliers had in the past.

Alas, boots and gloves cannot be crafted with sockets in the new system, rendering them utterly useless as anything but a fashion statement. What's more, newly-crafted Ubese Shirts, Ubese Bandoliers, Mabari Belts, and even Padded Belts cannot be crafted with sockets, either.

When you count the eleven basic suits of armor that contain boots and gloves, along with the four aformentioned pieces, you get a sum total of 26 schematics for "armor" that (1) provide no resists, and (2) offer no benefits to potential customers other than as fashion items.

(On a non-AS note, couple this with the fact that armor now decays rather rapidly, and the market for AAs just died.)

Yet another CURB item that makes me a sad panda.

Not to mentiont here are some people that will be hopping mad that their RIS Boots and gloves are now cheaply and readily available to anyone who is willing to pay about 3000 credits or so. As ris boots and gloves not only dont require any of the RIS loot drops. But can take crap resources, and dont take much more resource total wise than ubease shirts, bandoleers, mabari belts etc.

Can anyone on TC-Bria or TC-Gorath confirm weather or not pre-CU boots and gloves retain their sockets when converted? If they keep their sockets when converted,it would probably be wise to do some runs of 4 socket boots and gloves.

The bad news is that if you refit gloves or boots they do NOT keep their sockets. However if you do not refit them and leave them alone you ARE still able to put attachments into them. I havent found my preCU-prenerf ubese shirts yet to see if they are wearable at all anymore. If someone is able to check that please do.

Well, at least that's something. One other question... Does Composite in the CU still have the "color" option on the radial menu?

A guildmat not only got the RIS boots, but used his Anti-decay kit on them then they nerfed boots.

Ouch!
