Since the normal faction penalties apply to purchasing imp armor schematics, any non-human buying faction items from imperial recruiters pay a penalty (I'm zabrak, so I pay double.) Only a master Armorsmith can buy the imp armor schematics and I don't think they are tradeable once they are bought.
Is there no way around this other than to grind a new human armorsmith?
I'm sure darth maul was pissed when the imperial quartermaster charged him double faction for his probe droids.

Doesn't really matter to me, the consumer will pay in the end for my increased costs.

It will matter to you. If it will cost you twice as much to make the same armor as another smith, why would anyone buy it?

Here's another question, why would I make it? (Except for me and my friends in-game).

QM just called him a n00b and put corks on his horns and said "Don't let the blast door catch yer skirt"

Darth Maul probably got a five fingered discount.
You know, the sort that would leave the Quatermaster with a sore throat

Hmm. Could a 'fix' to this be to allow Smugglers to purchase schematics too, so both the continuity is preserved in regard to the Imperial bias towards aliens and a bit of profession interdependency is achieved?

if it cost to much to make it, then don't make it. Thats the price you pay for using a char with higher faction cost.

in all fairness, this is one thing that the game does have working properly. the fact that non-humans pay more is working correctly, as the game is actually following the story line. its a known fact thatnon-humans are at a huge disadvantage because they are considered inferior by the empire. i see far too many imperial wookies in the game now to be balanced to the storyline. its bad enough that they still cant seem to get the game to a point where blasters rule - seems that the post curb profession of choice looks to be tk again / still. give them credit forgetting the faction cost to make a difference, and keep with the storyline. at least they have one thing working correctly.

I could be wrong, but when I first read that you had to be factioned to make faction armor, I really had visions of people buying armor schematics themselves and bringing them to me to make.
That is how alot of the loot schematics work now. You loot a droid body schematic and take it to a droidsmith to build for you. I have no combat skills, I certainly wont be getting faction points on my own.

Actually that's a good view imo. The issue i see arising is that the cost for the schematics is not really an issue as much as the individual cost of the armor to bio-sig it. IE if you're in a guild that wants a good run of the armor, band together and either delegate faction to the AS or just have ppl buy a schematic for the AS themselves, but from the cost of it, it might be better to just spend that faction on bases, turrets, etc. and spend credits on other armor and wpns to take down npc's and bases to get more faction, and avoid the faction armor all together.
