It sounds like he's talking about the total of the three layers.
Might I suggest lowering the amount of kinetic you put in the layers? For example, if your base resists are 57%, you don't need a total kinetic resist of 40%. 80% - 57% = 23%. In other words, you should be able to get away with a kinetic resistance that is only 23% higher than your base resists. That's a sizeable savings that can then be dumped into base resists, further lowering your need for putting points in kinetic resists (for instance, if you can get your base resists up to 60%, you only need to have a kinetic rating of 20%). Or at least, that's how I remember the experimentation working.
Actually, come to think of it, I think you might need the kinetic rating to exceed the final percentage minus the bonus due to layers. So if you were using 2% base layers, and your final resists were 60%, you'd need 26% total kinetic from your three layers (800% - 54%). Or I could be mistaken and you only actually need 60%. It's beena bit since I've made kinetic composite ![]()
