Thread: Wookie armor and the hides requirement to make sets...

Is it just me or does the hides requirement to make the components and the armor itself seem a little high? Personally, I like to sale armor at a competitive rate, but the 25k hides for a run of 1000 pads is a little outrageous. Not to mention the 8k more of Yavin hides needed for segments, then add on top of that the added requirement for hides in the armor iteself! I know this is supposed to be primitive armor , but if I am gonna have to get 35k hides, some planet specific, some leathery, and some wooly for each run of this blasted armor, then there are gonna be very few sets made by anyone at this point.

Especially when GOOD hides are hard to come by and EXPENSIVE.

This is exactly why I do not understand the people who are selling this armor for under 100k a set. Given the amount of time and/or expense to obtain this number of quality hides, I would feel like I was losing money if I sold it for less.

Right now I have a couple of sets on my vendors, but the rest of my 30 sets or so I've either given to friends or am holding back as replacements for when their sets wear out.

sold it for about 350k a set the first couple of days, now around 150k a set for the advanced

also still selling 4 socket chest pieces for 100k]

can only lower prices so much, others tha are selling low will realize how much they are losing.

Except you AREN'T. Simple math. 100K is a profit markup of possibly hundreds of a percent.

I think that some of the people that are selling low are not doing runs of the armor, but making individual sets with resources they hunt themselves or friends give to them.

I did this with Chitin armor and could sell it for a decent price since I hunted the hides and bone myself. But the 15K of bone needed for the chitin armor segments makes it hard to do full 1000 set runs so I avoided that. Since this armor is more like chitin you may have to just settle for smaller runs. Hopefully, the newer wookie armors coming down the line will require less hides.

I am making huge runs of this armor and still making profit at 75k a suit... Maybe not what I could be at 100k to 150k a suit... But as a wookiee, I want to get the armor out and affordable to wookiees...

And considering Myself and 3 other people of my guild hunted 90% of the hides I used in the armor why should I mark up for more than what I feel is right...

Heck my composite sales dont move considering the total volume of Composite armor out there and I lost more money on getting awsome materials for composite an yet no one buys it.... So why begreedy... I still have made 3 million on tuseday, 3 million on wendnesday and then thursday and friday about 2 to 3 million again... I consider that mostly a profit... I dont see why so many are so hung up about Making the most of thier pocket books... Not like Credits mean anything in this game anymore...

Currently I have sold out of close to 200 suits of this armor... and still have more waiting for people as the armor gets destroyed a lot faster...

I think the reason people want to charge so much for wookie armor is because they have to buy the hides and can be paying anywhere from 10-100cpu or more.

Hmm, I doubt that. Even if you pay 100 cpu for hides and 10 cpu for other resources, a set would cost about 50 k to make.

Bah. its not too high. And 1000 armor padding? You plan on making 200 sets of armor? Each piece only takes 1 (chest 2 maybe).

Wood? I put 3 BER 14 harvesters on it for 3 days and got 100K wood.

Me and 2 buddies went out and hunted for the hide. We got 20K in 3 hours.

Im selling it for 105K a set and I am making a hefty profit.

Im no mathematician Im a guesstimator. And I guesstimate that by doing a little legwork it is costing me about 30K (max) to make a suit. I can live with 75K profit. Now if u got to send 250K (or more ) on the wood and 25 cpu for the hides then it might have only been a brake even proposition. Its not expensive. Its who you know and what u and them can do.

How do you kill 1000 warriors? One at a time. If you try to take on the 1000 at once, you have lost before you have begun to fight!

The problem with guesstimators is that they can't guess right

A suit takes 433 hides and 625 other resources (including wood). At 25 cpu thats a little over 26 k. Add some for traveling, factory maintenance etc. and 30 k is break-even. The rest is pure profit.

Guess you guys actually have a combat profession and can afford the points to put in scout as well. as for me, I am pure crafter and the hides requirement is steep at best. I sat outside coronet for 4 hours begging to buy hides at 50-100cpu per unit and had not a single taker. It is not the cost of the hides, it is the quantity of hides. I could care less about the profit I make on the blasted sets, I just want to be able to make them in quantity and sell them. I am a full service armor shop and I have carried all functional armor in my shop since I have opened it. I am not going use the good hides I use for composite and ubese for the crappy no bonus armor padding. I do not understand why the heck they have make the padding have hide requirements as well as the armor. This is the exact reason that hardly any armorsmith sells bulk padded armor, the time required to gather the resources far outweighs the protection the armor provides. Except in the case of wookie armor, the armor is going to be so disposible that gathering the resources required is gonna be not worth it.

If you are an armorsmith and have the scouting/combat skills to kill anything over the size of a durni, you have more than likely do not have the support abilities needed to be an exceptional armorsmith (tailor, merchant and master artisan). SOE and their infinite wisdom chose to spread all the required components all over the profession trees to create interdependence among professions. This would have worked if they would of had a game that would have kept all people playing. Why do they not see that this is a failed attempt and rework the system. They are losing more players per day than they would like to admit and throwing a bone to the people that stayed around does not seem like to far off the marketing mark.

Just my two credits worth though.

Well, you guys have made it very easy for me to decide if I should keep my combat skills or not.

I'm halfway through both armorsmith and pistoleer, and have been playing this character for about 2 months. Since I started I have been collecting any good resource that has shifted and that I can use, and as soon as I found the requirements for wookie armor I moved my hunting to Yavin for the hide.

The padded segments are the only thing I had to pay for, besides shuttle tickets, buffsand harvester maintenence, so I have no problem charging 60k for a full suit of 45% kinetic wookie armor, and turning a healthy profit. In a day or two I managed to collect enoughYavin leatheryfor just over 20 full suits, solo.

It's quite simple to do.

I find it quite ironic that many of you are getting ripped off on the resources. It had to happen. Armorsmiths have earned their reputation of richest/biggest rip off profession in the game. Of course those that supply us will charge heaps, they know someone can and will pay it. I don't charge much for my armor, and as a result I get offered manycheap or free resources.
