Armor Statistics
Armor statistics are the same as they were before but general Armor Rating, Damage Mitigation Types or Encumbrance have all been removed

Not quite... there will be new penalties. Such as reduced rate of movement, reduced attack speeds etc...

Ya, it's going to be interesting. Now, if you raise, lets say, kinetic in your armor, the energy goes down. You have to learn to balance protection now, and not just max.

This is there little way of making sure there will not be the uber 80/80/80 90% base armors anymore.

Since bone armor uses the same core as say comp armor and the core is what determines the stats, why care if it is bone armor or faction armor or RIS armor.

Bone armor will likely be 'basic' armor, which can only have one layer. The other armors can have more layers, and the penalties that go along with them.

Basic armor is defined by core, not by skin. Basic armor gets basic cores, standard armor gets standard cores, adv. armor takes adv. cores. Basic cores take one segment, standard 2, adv. 3. Bone armor will fall into one of the 3 armor categories, recon, battle or assult. The profession you take will determine which armor you are certed to use and how far along in that profession will determine how protective of that armor type you can use.

So depending on resources and core used bone armor will be as good as comp armor. That is the whole point. No one armor type is better than the other. This is an excellent new armor system, the only new CU design I feel very happy about.

Fellow Armorsmiths,

Before we get all hyped up on the new CU armor changes, has anyone even considered that we are going from a 2-3 stage armor crafting process to essentially a 5-step one ? And people were complaining about slightly increased factory/construction times for layers with a previous patch ?

Also, as I have posted elsewhere, considering the new armor certification requirements, if you aren't certified to wear a particular armor type you can't even don the armor...that means unless you have an appropriate combat profession under your belt, you're stuck with mabari or some other light armor. Are all ofyou Armorsmiths happy with that situation???I for one am most certainly not...Being able to wear our armor (RIS comes to mind) is one of our best advertisments for our wares...Not to mention that without decent combat skills, you're screwed for protection when you go out into the wild to collect resources, check on factories, harvesters, etc.

I REALLY hope that armor certs. are removed...or, as usual, the crafter is the one who bites the bullet...

Personally, I think the AS community should be asking ALOT more questions and get our opinions to the devs BEFORE this hits live. I forsee many problems with this CU...many problems...

I like the certifications for armor, as for displaying your armor the certifications have no impact on that. You can equip any weapon you want now even if you don't have the cert for it, it just simply isn't effective. I assume the same will apply for armor, so if you wanted to wear your ris simply for display purposes you still should be able to, you just won't get the resistances from it in combat.

Jason,TH's proposedupdates, if Iunderstand them correctly, indicate that if you are notcertified, youcan't even wear it...hence why I posed this same question to the AS community/correspondent today in another thread...IMO, we're making a BIG leap of faith in assuming it's just like equipping non-cert weapons under the current system...

Nope, it says in the CU updates that if you don't have the cert, you can't even put it on.
