Fellow Armorsmiths,

Before we get all hyped up on the new CU armor changes, has anyone even considered that we are going from a 2-3 stage armor crafting process to essentially a 5-step one ? And people were complaining about slightly increased factory/construction times for layers with a previous patch ?

Also, as I have posted elsewhere, considering the new armor certification requirements, if you aren't certified to wear a particular armor type you can't even don the armor...that means unless you have an appropriate combat profession under your belt, you're stuck with mabari or some other light armor. Are all ofyou Armorsmiths happy with that situation???I for one am most certainly not...Being able to wear our armor (RIS comes to mind) is one of our best advertisments for our wares...Not to mention that without decent combat skills, you're screwed for protection when you go out into the wild to collect resources, check on factories, harvesters, etc.

I REALLY hope that armor certs. are removed...or, as usual, the crafter is the one who bites the bullet...

Personally, I think the AS community should be asking ALOT more questions and get our opinions to the devs BEFORE this hits live. I forsee many problems with this CU...many problems...

Peace,

Personally this is one of the things I like about it. We actually get to craft more armor now. We are no longer composite bots....

You have the cert for mabari?

I think that at least armor with basic cores should be wearable by all. The document sure does make it sound as if you have to be cert to wear any peice of armor for any reason. That does kill fashion armor.

Bah! I kinda agree that it would suck if we can't wear what we make. I'm hoping that with the changes I will beable to keep my current template (master AS, master Pike, with a little scout) since I'm faily self sufficient and have an alt thats a merchant. What I would like to see is single elite combat masters not taking a hit if they want to pursue something like crafter or doc/cm. Right now the only way to play this game is to have more then one account and SOE has done nothing to prevent that, since it's more money in their pocket. Being forced to choose between Armorsmith or a combat prof will be game breaking for me.

With the certification system, Weaponsmiths and Armorsmiths should be certified to wear/use anything they can make. Who knows thier wears better then the crafter? Just make it so that if they don't have the certification through a combat prof, maybe it has a negitive type of modifier? Like wearing a heavier armor lowers their attack speed?

I don't know.. guess I'll just have to wait and see

already in there, as i understand the heavier armor WILL already lower your attack speed and *maybe* movement speed

The gaping omission in the details of the new system is a clear definition of "hindrance". The fact is with energy sabers, almost everyone in PVP will choose the medium armour or will opt for the energy protection armour. If the hindrance is worse for some professions when using this armour type, you essentially have a pvp nerf for all the professions that are better suited to the kinetic armour. It all depends on what "hindrance" is.

Either Jedi will be allowed to go on leave from their faction or all pvp tactical choices will be based around defense against Jedi. When changes are made to try to balance Jedi in PVP post CU, they will have to be Jedi nerfs, as changing the energy armour will result in undesirable consequences for other professions that exist within the energy damage type system. If anything, it seems highly likely that removing an LS damage type will only constrain Jedi balancing even more then previously (and I am not going to argue that Jedi are currently anything but overpowered).

Actually belive it or not. Bone armor is going by the armor list. Medium Armor. That's right. Not light. But Medium.

And personally I'd have to agree with those that dont like the if you dont have the cert you cant wear armor at all side of things. It's hard enough to stay alive when I'm surveying or dealing with my harvesters on a planet when I can wear composite and pop a pixie and some vercupti. Now I'll have to get buffed and run even faster and likely die alot more when having to place/maintain/retrieve harvesters on planets such as Endor, Yavin and Dathomir. Which I might add are some of the planets one must go to for Wookiee armor resources and the like.

Right now long as I have comp and some pixie on me I can usually run away before I die unless something blows up my bike. Which happens now and then. But afterwards every crafter will have to be a master ins ome combat proff or other it seems just to have even the slightest chance to make it there and back in one piece. If only because you cant wear armor at all otherwise.

Exactly! This the one area I have a concern. Do I care if I can't wear all armors...no. But I do want to have a decent set I can wear when I'm out surveying so I don't get killed while planting harvestors. While I am a Novice Carbineer, I hope they don't make all crafters get to a Novice level in some combat profession in order to wear some armor. I believe I saw a quote that said beginner characters will not be able to wear armor, but they will be able to kill things. The real question becomes where in the skill trees do certifications begin. It is in a Marksman tree or do you have to move in to a Novice combat box?

We just have to wait and see. I remember reading the same thing and realizing that clothes is all I'll prob get to wear as a dedicated crafter.... if not, I just make the best damn suit of bone armor any server has ever seen
