I started a marksman and am almost up to pistoleer, I bought a full suit of bone armor and started wearing it out on hunts and missions and it seemed like I was getting hit much more, couldn't move as fast, and didn't have as many health points as with regular clothes on. I noticed the encumbrances on the armor but didn't think much of it at the time since there is no deducts on the personal data screen. When fighter blaster wielding NPCs the armor does block some shots at least partially but I still seem to move slower, and have less hp. My thought is to go back to clothes and wait to buy armor when there is some decent stuff out there as artisans get higher in skill.......any thoughts or comments from people who were in beta or know more about the workings of the armor in the game would be very helpful.

Thank you,

yes id like to know the answer to this too. The problem is, with higher armor comes huge penalties for wearing it. The rebel armor i have does HUGE stat point reductions, although it has 30% effectiveness on all parts.

Give us armorsmiths some time to make the really good armor. Bone armor is *ok* starting armor... would I wear it hunting melee critters, no.

Does someone have a link to a site or database that gives various armor despcritions/protections, etc? I know they vary with the skill of the artisan...but like bone armor blocks ranged weapons to some extent, I am sure there is a melee defense armor, all around armor, etc.....?

Seems like mobs that were hitting me for 50s now hit me for 150s with the armor on. I dont understand the deal.

Bone armor has 20% energy resistance and 10% electrical resistance. That's all. I don't know how badly it reduces statsbecause I've never wore it. But I did wear Chitin in the Beta. For the stat decrease, I still can't exactly say if it was worth it. It was really nice to have during a big battle, then take it off to regenerate afterwards. In PVP it was nice for skirmishes. But anything long term.. it was bad. The armor lowers your strength, focus and quickness so low that you will start to kill yourself by using your specials. And with willpower, stamina and con really low you won't regenerate well at all.

I could only see armor being good in PVP. It helps against pistols, which will do 50% less damage against you (unless SR Combat). It also gave you good protection for the short time that you'll need it. If you think about it, without armor you're going to die pretty quickly. With armor you're going to die.. but not as quickly. It helped you stay alive longer and then you can always run away and heal up afterwards. Then again, that's just like saying that you can tank with Ubese or Chitin, then rest up afterwards without the armor.

It's really the choice of the person. When I went hunting I would never wear my armor unless I knew something was going to get close enough to hurt me or if I was ina bad situation I might slap it on to survive a little longer. But, usually, as a ranged attacker.. I found myself killing myself. I never used my armor that often at all in PVE, just PVP.

I posted this on the Marksman and general board, but I then thought the people that make the armor would probably be the best to answer this question, thanks in advance.

Yes it seems creatures hit for at least 25% (sometimes up to twice as much) more damage with the armor on....could be a bug?

I guess the answer is a yes, and a no.

Armor reduces the damage you take (or is supposed to lower the damage). The reduction is based on the type and stats of the armor. However, each peice you wear reduces the various pools by the amount stated on the armor. The idea is to try and balance the stat reduction with the reduction in damage taken.

Personally, I don't wear the stuff...mainly because Wookies don't do the armor thing.

As of now I kept all my bone armor and have it bagged in my inventory, when I fightknow I am about to fight a blaster wielding NPC I can throw it on, but all other times it seems that just plain clothing works the best until there is some armor made that has some type of "all-around" benefit with small pool reduction. I am still not sure that losing 100+ hp will help me even when I am fighting blaster wielding mobs...I'll test it out more tonight.

Bah... its all about the pimp clothes. Find a tailor.... pick a color, style, and bam... if armor is giving u more penalties than giving you AC u shouldnt be wearing it.
