Thread: Kinetic protection layer limits
Top line = Encumberance (I max this line out second, if possible)
Middle line = Base effectiveness (I max this line out first) Math is: 1%+4%*(Experimentation value for this line as a decimal)
Bottom line = Special Kinetic Protection (I don't bother experimenting on this line) Math: 1%+14%*(Experimentation value for this line as a decimal)

For the layers, I would max out the bottom (special) line and put the remaining points into base. With luck you'll come out with about a 2% base/13% Kinetic layer. From there experiment for base protection on the segment and final combine, with remaining points going into durability.
On chilastra, this will easily yield about 65+% Base/80% Kinetic/78+% Electrical on the final piece of armour. Also, bear in mind that you can slightly improve on this if you're prepared to spend the time and resources to get amazing successes on all experimentation attempts.
Hope this helps
OMG please no!!!! Do NOT max out the bottom line of your layers for composite armor unless you want to waste valuable experimentation points.Max outquality (2nd row) and use any remaining points for encumberance (1st row).

Yes, dont put any points into special on a kinetic layer if its for composite, all points into base(quality) and durability the left overs. you only need 4% special for 80% kinetic composite.
now everyone has different ways of doing this
type A 80% kinetic (any master can make)
max base (middle row) then dump remaining in to top row (encumberence), do the same on segs. I end up with 69% base 80% kinetic composite
type B 80% kinetic (may require 12 exp points to do it right)
max top row (encum) with right resources your Ham will be 1/1/1 or 2/2/2 (very nice and light), then put1-2 points into middle row (base) and 2-3 points into bottom (special)
on segs you can either max top and dump rest into base or do about half and half
my end product is 80% kinetic and 62-63% base and quite light HAM is around 450/450/520 or something like that, there are other smiths making lighter 80% kinetic on my server
Valcyn has almost every 12 point smith making the type B composite. The days of the 800 HAM monstrosities is going away. I think that armor is far superior and better than the high base 80% kinetic stuff.
So, please all you smiths posting, don't tell people that their way is "right" or "wrong" it is all in the eye of the beholder.I thin kValcyn has many innovative smiths and some of you could learn another trick or two if you expand your creativity a bit

I stand corrected,

well, since the post is about kinetic armor... I think emily is giving the advice that needs giving.

I guess you don't make stun armor
like I said, dont flame people there may be a wrong way to do things, but that is your own opinion

If you do not agree that it is a waste of points (= wrong)to max out experimental resistance (3rd row) on your layers when making composite armor, then you should go back to armorsmith school right now.

Exactly! And that's why I gave him my advice, I do not see anyone flaming.
