Okay weve had a few somewhat helpfull responeses.. but heres my 2 cents... im assuming your a 10 point MAS... now theres simply not 1 exact way to use your points.. you need to spend points depending on your end goal and your resources.. For myself Kinetic composite is just that.. only the kinetic protection really matters.. beyond that I like making it as light as possible.. so now you must do a little investigation.. whats the fewest points you can spend getting that 80% kinetic protection and having the most left over to spend on HAM.. for me i found it worked best to use 3 layers.. if you have decent materials you should aim to have 9% kinetic on your layers... (experiment 3rd row).. then use your remaining points on the HAM.. (experiment 1st row)... now those 3 layers will give you 27% kinetic protection in your segment... with 27% kinetic segments you will need to get your base protection of your final piece of armor up to at least 53%... getting to that 53% starts to happen on the segment.. you should max the base on your segment.. (experiment 2nd line)... with your remaining points further experiment down the HAM cost... (experiment top line) ... now on the final combine you will want to experiment up the base effectiveness up to the 53% ive used in this example.. (experiment 2nd line)... once you get the base to 53% you can use your remaining points to either further lower the HAM(experiment1st line)or increase the max condition of your armor(experiment 3rd line).. I recommend lowering the HAM on the helm, chest and legs(you'll be able todecrease the encumberancenoticeably and these wear out quickly regardless)and increasing the condition on all the rest(instead of trying to lower the HAM by 2 or 3 points, your nicely encumberance sliced piece of armor will last longer).. and there you go.. my recipe for cheap effective 80% kinetic composite.

also.....if you only use two layers instead of three you can still hit 80% kinetic.......if you max the special

lol

And there I thought the original poster was asking about the best chance of ending up with high special protection and base. Oh well.

Yes you can max the bottom line and hit 80% Kinetic using two layersbut is this the best way to make the armor? I think not. I can triple layer a suit and come out with lower HAM cost and higher base than you achieve on your double layered Kinetic. I know which suit my customers would prefer.

Thanks for the help everyone , very informative and will save me lots of time , just to let you know , this is what i ended up with.

Composite chest

condition 34848

Special protection

kinetic 65%

electricity 66%

energy 66%

Efeffectivness

blast 55%

heat 55%

cold 55%

acid 55%

Encunberance

h 279

a 126

m 86

2 sockets

I am a new armorsmith and at 10 points , which i can see myself being for quite some time , unless i get really lucky with loots , the prices i have seen people sell the aa for is way out off my limit

I would have no idea what to charge for this , and any idea's would be great

i used 2 kinetic layers and 1 energy for this effect , and am thinking would i have been closer to 80% with 3 kinetic layers instead , a couple of the resorces were not top quality , but the besti could get at the time.

I think it was my adv compsegments that got this lower % , as even with amazing sucess i could only get them to 26% base and i was aiming for 34%.

Aaaah well , tried and failed but not giving up , was this any good for my first attempt ?

It is true that there are different ways to acheive this result. Go read the layerology post at swgcraft.com in the Armorsmith forum. It is long, but I think it explains the process well. The next step is to make layers and segments and practice making gloves. This will give you a good idea about what is going on without requiring alot of resources or factory runs.

Honestly, I wish I had practiced on gloves more as a new master AS.

Another important key, use Bespin Port and Pyrolian Cake (sp?) when making schematics for the layers and segments. These help you get more amazing successes in experimenting (port) and help the assembly roll (cake). The difference in your layers can be significant with an extra point from an amazing success.

a couple of things

make sure you are making advanced composite segs, not the regular ones

also dont put the energy layer in, go with three kinetics, better armor, much better armor that way
