Ok, I know that Amazing's are supposed to be fairly uncommon. But I'm sitting here trying to make some kinetic layers, and I'm currently at 1 amazing success out of 125 tries. ONE!!!! dammit.

did you experiment in a research center?I usually do, and i got 1 amazing ouy of 4-5 tries without bespin port..yesterday i got 3 amazing in a row without drinking anyhing 
So, i'd suggest you to place a house in a research center to improve chances of amazing success

I've been lucky enough to get quite a few amazings in the last 2 days. I experiment in a Research City, use Port before each experi and have +5 (so far) CA Assembly. I got 2 in a row yesterday on a comp chest plate. I was very pleased.

I used bespin for the first 60 tries. Yes. 60. And in a research center. /shrugJust one amazing. I was not happy. I gave up after about 130 tires, I'm logging in now to continue trying. I'd better get like, 4 in a row to make up for the 1000's of resources I dumped.

what is the stat rating on your crafting station and crafting tools? think this has some bearing on results too. being in a research center (town) also helps.
My crafting station is a 43.8 rating and i'm using 15.00 tools. seems to make a difference.

Don't have exact numbers, but tools are close to 15 and station is almost 45, so not quite perfect.
I knew it was just a fluke, I was just groaning. I'm just finishing up the schematics for a stun suit. I have 8 of the 9 pieces done, and waiting for my stomach to empty a bit. But I've only used 31 shots of bespin so far. 8 out of 31 is MUCH better than 1/125

Tools and crafting station will have nothing to do with it. That works with assembly success rate.

At the research centre I go to, I don't know if its constant luck, I average 1-3 amazing/item

You guys should state whether you have force experimentation tree or not... without it, it usually takes meat least10 tried to get an amazing success when experimenting, but it depends, and I use 15.00/44.52 in research city. I'm grinding force experimentation now, cause of this reason, and the fact that it will help my armor overall.

statistically speaking, it's possible to get tons and tons of missed successes, but if you are master armorsmith and in a research center with good tools and station you should be able to get it. But like a lot of people say, if you have eternity you're bound to flip heads a thousand times in a row at least once, and so sometimes we get in a really huge rut and get nothing for crafting. That's the way it goes with being in a random system.

Same here, to follow up from yesterday: Last night I finished my mini-suit schems and got the following -
Comp Helmet 3 amazings (Port for each attempt, in research city, 14.88 tools at a 43.xx station)
Comp Boots 2 amazings (Port for each attempt, in research city, 14.88 tools at a 43.xx station)
Comp Gloves 2 amazings (Port for only one attempt, in research city, 14.88 tools at a 43.xx station)
These were all made in a 40 minute period. I took a break after the boots to empty my stomach enough for one more port to use on the gloves.
I was pretty damn pleased with the results. They got me 80 Kin/80 Elec/70 Base 38k plus condition on each item.
