Thread: Armorsmithing Mandalorian Armor *SPOILERS*

You obviously have no idea how good some of the armor I make is. Sure you can call my armor Ford if you wish, but I make some of the nicest comp on Bloodfin. I also make some very nice enhanced RIS and Composite pieces.
What are you doing on our forum anyhow... you're starting to smell a lot like a troll. No opinion is valid unless it is yours eh?
And by the way, it's spelled Porsche.

Ok, first of all, in my last post to you I did appologize for being rude. My comparison of car companies was not meant to be an insult, but you appear to be dead set on believeing that I am only here to greif you and your board -that is also not the case.
Ford makes the Mustang. Sweet Ride. Fast...much faster than the legal speed limit. Porsche (thanks for correcting my misspelling, never one of my strongpoints) makes the 911. Sweet Ride. Fast...much faster than the legal speed limit. The 911 costslot more than a Mustang, for various reasons. The Mustang is still a car I admire, even if I am trying to hunt downPorsche.
The point on the 'Economic Lesson' mesasge, which was also rude on my part, is that if you aren't willing to do the Bounty Hunter Armor or Mandalorian Armor, someone else might/will. That particular market might only be profitable if a very small handfull of people do it. The most economical way would be to find a single individual that is a Master of alll 3 required professions for this armor. That would also mean that every piece would be custom made and practically unique, and therefore incredibly expensive. The few consumers that would be willing to pay for such an item will therefore reduce how many "Boba Fett wannabes" actually get to look like a Fett.
Now to address your question for why I am even here. In the Bounty Hunter forum I started a thread about maybe making a profession specific type of armor called Powered Armor (http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=bounty_hunter&message.id=203366). The general gist of my thought there was that this type of armor was a certified type of armor, and that a profession gained skill in its use as they progessed up their skill tree. That way at the Novice level the armor was really worse in its performance that Composite Armor but far more expensive, but by the time Master was reached the armor was practically a second skin. The thread focused on Bounty Hunters only getting this kinda of armor, but there would be a cost in gameplay - from the moment Novice Bounty Hunter was selected, a player could no longer be part of a faction and could only hurt another player if they were a Mark (had a bounty placed on them that the Specific BH had taken as an assignment).
Then someone posted that there wasthis discussion on Mandalorian Armor, and when I came to read it, the revalation that Bounty Hunter Armor was made. That was what we were wanting. If the Devs found a way to wiggle the armor in there to fit into their grand scheme of how a BH is suppsoed to work (and believe me, it isnt real clear to a lot of BH what SOEs grand scheme is, or if they even have one
.
Really wasn't trying to kick a hornet's nest - I was trying to convince Armorsmiths that this BHA was a fix to Bounty Hunters that was imlemented in Armor. Initially I did't understand why youall were so mad, but I actually have come to realize why.
We want each of our professions to be distinctive and would prefer not to have other professions nudge into our respective domains. Bounty Hunters want Bounty Hunter only items, like armor. Armormorsmiths want to be the source of all armor. It is the same desire. It is wrong for me to ask the Armorsmiths to expect an encroachment on their armor making and then not want anyone but Bounty Hunters to wear enhanced Bounty Hunter Armor (and that is what Mandalorian Armor current sounds like). Earlier I was hipocritical.
My only further thought here is that maybe the Devs thought they had killed 3 birds with one stone. First they corrected a huge defense issue with Bounty Hunters. Second they gave Droid engineers another taste of general Game usefulness. Thirdly, gave gave Tailor some lovin - and I think it might be somewhat deserved, since a lot of Combat Professions will visit you 100 times for big dollar perchases before visiting a Tailor even once.
So I ask you this question: If the Devs were going to use Armor, Clothing and/or Equipment to fix Bounty Hunters and improve the viability of DE and Tailors whether anyone likes it or not, how would you suggest they go about doing it so they casue the least amount of anger among professions?

Are you totally dumb?
Ok, you don't agree with me. Is that a reason to resort to personal attacks. Yes I have doe it in this thread, and I appologized - I was wrong and admitted it.
There are probably as many people in the game that want a suit of Mandalorian armour as there are people who want Jedi. Therefore if they cant get it without being a Bounty Hunter then a large proportion of them will take Bounty Hunter just to get a suit of it, even if its just for show in their house, even if they just drop it afterwards.
Can't argue with that too much. Is there a way to fix that - prevent FOTM migrations, and give something valuable to those dedicated to a profession?
You have zero idea how this game actually works, unfortunately it seems to be a trait among many that choose the Bounty Hunter profession, all I ever hear from them on the forums is 'I want, I want, I want' and 'Wahh, wahh wahh my defence sucks'.
Again with the attacks. Aren't you folks kinda doing the same thing: "'Wahh, wahh wahh I don't like going into dungeons" or "'Wahh, wahh wahh only Armorsmiths should ever have anything to do with making armor"
The facts remain - it is inconvienent for a crafting profession to be needed to leave their comfort zone to go play in a dungoen. If the person playing a crafter WANTED to go into dungoens, that person would have developed a character with the skills to do it.
The fact also remains that the current rendition of the Bounty Hunter profession is not quite up to par.
It is my general observation that people post things on a forum when they agree or disagree with something, so everything can be considdered whining from your particular point of view.
Fact is that everytime they do something to the game that doesnt fit right with the setting the forums fill up with complaints about it, you would of thought they would of learnt by now.
Amen to that. They probably would do better by asking us as the player comunity HOW we think something might be implemented - no one knows the subject matter this game is based on better than the people that regularly play this game. Well, maybe a few.
As for the Jedi problem, that was there own making, they should of set the game PRIOR to the original movie (A New Hope) and not after it, then it would of made sense to have multiple Jedi players, but thats fairly moot as they are about to remove 99% of Jedi from the game during the Jedi revamp.
Exactly.
Finally, Mandalorian armour isnt in this game for Bounty Hunters yet, its still only on Test Center and hopefully the devs will see the mistake they are making and remove any Profession restrictions it has prior to it actually being in the game.
This is, of course, a central difference of opinion between us. I think it can be successfully implemented, if done right. The margin for error is pretty tight

Yoda "No, there is another"
Brush up on your movies bud.
Maybe this will make you all feel better, maybe it won't. Just had a report from someone on Endor that fought DeathWatch Ghosts (or something) and got some BH armor loot. His quote
"30% effectiveness
and vuln to acid, heat and stun if i remember.Screenies will be posted soon"
So it appears that the droped armor reeks, and the only way to make it worth a crap is to take it into the dungoen and convert it. So technically this armor is NOT craftable, and the Master Crafters involved are literally just manning the controls of the machine. In actuality you would have to be compensated for your time and your time alone (and whatever else you negotiate to get for you trouble).
I've heard other reports that the dungoen itself is MUCH harder than the Corvette, and will take a pretty Uber group to even survive it.
