I'm sorry but an extra 450 on the stats in nothing compared to what the armor gives all the other species. Why don't you non-Wookies go so the math before you post here.

If they start allowing wookiees to wear regular armor, Wookiees must lose their natural HAM advantage, if you say extra HAM is meaningless, then it should not be a problem for you to give it up...
I think a better idea would be wookiee-only armor. This armor could have naturally high HAM costs to offset the wookiee HAM advantage, as an earlier poster suggested.
I still wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you though.
You're so right. I must be an idiot. What was I thinking to disagree with you. You are so smart. 450 in ham is totally a land slide to someone with armor at an extra 4000 ham.
And to think, if Wookies had armor then that extra 450 in Stats or HAM "what ever" might actually give Wookies the advantage designed into the game by the devs originally. (Short of the caps on the mind, and the CH bonuses that don't exist, and the Biocaster with the whopping 250 damage the Wookie have already.)
WOW!! Then It' might even be worth being a character other than a human. Stupid diversity, it just makes the game boring.
I was doing some figuring. My roomate was telling me that it would be a jokee to give wookies standard HAM = to master doc buff. I kinda came out that if a wookie was to compare to a composite suit with about 60 rounded off resists, he'd need around 4100 ham. Not quite a wrix. I'd be happy with boosted stats, but in all honesty i think it would be more practical to boost them a little, and give us some armor.

I understand that a wookiee's natural HAM bonus is nothing compared to a Buffed player, but at the same time, can you comprehend that YOU CANNOT HAVE EVERYTHING. You cannot be granted 450 extra points AND be able to wear a full set of composite. Just for game balance. As to a solution (and I think one is needed) Perhaps this means area restrictions similar to Trnadoshans, perhaps Wookiees only wear chestplates and Bracers, Or possibly a new Wookiee-Only armor with higher than average HAM costs.
But please, if all you're going to do is rage, rage over on the GCW boards or something.
Let's see......??? Where should a Wookie go to talk about Armor???? We should but it anywhere but the armor smith's board. The armor smith board would be a stupid place to post suggestions about armor. Especially since the armor smiths will be the ones making the armor. What are all the Wookies thinking? Posting about armor on the armor smith's board. How silly is that?

I read through a few pages, and here is what i feel should be done.
Soloution 1:
Wookies base HAM should be boosted to 2k a bar + light armor, (varies depending on how you migrate, but you get the point). This is vastly below the benifits of composite, but gives the wookie an advantage in the beginning. (not a significant advantage, but an advantage) As the wookie earns money, they will eventually be able to afford a set of wookie padded armor. This wouldn have no Armor, as the wookie would have base light armor, but have resists, high or low depending on the armorsmith.
In the end, this will give the wookie somthing along these lines:
2000 HAM, light armor, 50/60 effectiveness to all resists.
Compared to say a human
say:
1k ham, 80 SR, 60/70 eff, light armor... Pretty comprable, i think....
Solution 2:
Little more radical. Wookies HAM increases over a duration of a RL period combined with a play time period. Start at the current stats, and as the player ages, they will slowly move twords having natural resists that are equal to or just below composite.
Maybe 2/3k ham, light armor, 40 all around resists.
This solution would prevent impatient people from playing them ( a drawback to prevent a wookie spike ), give a great benifit to current long time wookies, and balance them with other races.
By the time the (say.. 2 month) growth period is up, most players can afford a set of composite by then anyway, this way you dont start out as an uber wookie.....
any thoughts?
This is the final solution for the Wookie Armor Problem ... after reading this ...devs go directly into action on making this work!!!

Answer: Let Wookies drive around in AT-ST's like chewbacca in RTJ ... and give them some Ewoks for added protection and kickass tree partys for those long hunting trips
and whoever says anything different from this idea will have their armor priviledges revoked !!!

I will alter my previous post slightly. I do believe wookiees should get natural resists up to possibly 50% on a number of damage types. That would take away the need for the rediculous idea of putting Wookiees in armor. At the same time it would also make a human in full composite armor tougher than a Wookiee which would be appropriate considering stormtroopers owned the Wookiee race.
I still vote no wookiee armor!!!
