Initially my thought was "Wookies wearing armor? Rediculous!". but looking back on my experiences as a Bothan mastering TKA it did get tons easier once I got a decent set of armor.
It is true that there have been no "film" references to wookies in armor (and dont give me that EP3 info, nothing is set in stone, just ask the actors who played Padme's family in EP2). But that doesnt mean the game couldnt be tweaked to allow a few pieces of wookie armor. A helm, a few chest pieces, bracers and like Trandoshans, the armor wouldnt be complete.
So here's my solution. Make wookie armor similar to the marauder armor quest. Only wookies can accept the missions and they get either the armor pieces or a draft schematic that only wookies can make (i.e. the bowcaster).
Till that day, suck it up. I played a wookie with the understanding that was one of the hinderances of playing that race.
Finally someone that know what Wookie have to go through. I appreciate what you have to say. You played a species other than a Wookie, before and after the use of armor. I will bet that everyone out there that has done this would agree that Wookies are just soon to be living room rugs.
I would agree that if we don't get the armor then the devs need to increase out stats to match a human that is fully buffed. That would be 3000 to health, 3000 to action, and 1000 to mind with no caps on anything. Only then would I think a Wookie is getting a fair shake. If you think this suggestion is ridiculous then give us the armor and not some cheap arm raps either. The extra 450 in stats in nothing compared to armor. Wake up and smell the Rancor fart folks, Wookies are getting the shaft.
Here is another suggestion instead of no armor. 3 time the damage with any kinetic or blast weapons, 50% resistance to any attack and twice the healing rate. That would be fair.
Just give us the armor and leave the stats alone.
Stop the nerfing of all professions.
Maybe we could talk the Armorsmiths into striking. Think of the extra money Armorsmiths could make if one whole species could wear there armor. And while we are racial profiling:
I DON'T THINK MON CALAMARI SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE FLAMETHROWERS!
Well its the first time I've seen this post in this forum. So I'll pipe in.
For continuity freaks please follow the following link:
http://www.rebelscum.com/soteKchewbacca.asp (This would be Chewbacca in a bounty hunter disguise from Shadows of the Empire. Chewbacca is impersonating a Wookiee bounty hunter called Snoova in this outfit so it's quite obvious that wookiees can and do wear armor).
Also of note (if you do any web surfing for information on episode 3 you can find this information yourself) is the rumor that we will see a huge wookiee battle in Star Wars Episode 3. This battle features Chewbacca, Yoda, and many other wookiees in their battle armorin a fight to the death with the clone troopers on Kyshakk. This again disproves any false information that wookiees can not wear armor or clothing.
Any educated starwars fan would know that Wookiees prefer not to wear clothing or armor however this would not prevent an intelligent species from protecting themselves if needed. There's a huge difference between "Don't Like" and "Can't ever". I don't like sushi but if it was all that was available and I was hungry I would most likely eat it.
For continuity reasons I don't want to see wookiees walking around in the armor that's available now. I think that would make wookiees look retarded (Though I think it'd be kind of amusing to see a wookiee in a storm trooper suit with all the hair comming out of the joints). Wookiees are asking for a new type of armor possibly a variation of the armor seen in the Snoova disguise which would allow us to compete with the other species available in the game.
For the game players:
As this is the armorsmith forum I'm sure I do not need to explain how armor works. But perhaps one of the things you've neglected to notice is that every time you recieve a new armor loot drop a new weapon loot drop is added so that other players can peirce your newly created armor and do more dammage. While this doesn't effect armor wearing players it significantly increases the ammount of dammage done to players who do not wear armor (I.E. Wookiees). And as you get tougher and tougher so do the creatures. It's honestly a cascading effect and unfortunately Wookiees are left out of the loop.
PSG's would be a great solution to reduce some of our problems however as you armorsmiths know full well PSG's stats shift with every server boundary crossed. They aren't a reliable means of protection, and they decay incredibly fast. It's not a good investment to spend 15k on a PSG MK3 when it only lasts you an hour or two and it may not even help.
"But wookiees get extra ham...." Again any armorsmith should know full well that in order to compesnate for 70% kenetic resist ubese or 80% kenetic resist composite Wookiees would need the stats of a Pre-Nerf Grand Wrix (For all you wondering that should be about 6500 HAM across the board and a natural AR rating of 1) or higher. Last time I checked my wookiee didn't even have 1/3 of that.
To be fully honest I can't see why any armorsmith would dislike the idea of new armor for wookiees. Wookiees have very little to purchase in the game, they can't buy much in the way of clothing so the majority of their credits they earn goto weapons (which tend to last for quite a while), and buffs. Most of my wookiee companions stopped buying PSG MK3's long ago because their cost and shifting stats did not justify the 15k purchase price. So in effect Armorsmiths are one of the only professions in the game who make very little off of the Wookiee species. Add into that the limited choises Wookiees have in purchaseable items so their species in general tends to be one of the richest in the game. Wouldn't it be great to tap into that market share that's never been tapped into before?
Bottom line here is that the Wookiee species could use as much support as it can get to have the proposed changes implementedrelatively quickly. Wookiees from every server would appriciate it if the armorsmiths would pull for them next time the top 5 list questions are asked. New armor and fix's to PSG's would benefit both the armorsmith community and the Wookiee community. And I think that's all the origional posters were trying to get at.

Wookiess in armor would look dumb. What you need is, just like there is some wookiee clothes, make a "Hard Leather" hood, robe, armwraps, that offer very little in special protection but give wookiees the all important AR1.
If wookiees could wear regular armor they would HAVE to surrender Stats, which would involve a lot of coding and piss off most wookiees that have to wait 3 days for their stats to migrate how they want them to now. Much simpler to make some crappy wookie-only armor that lets them have AR1Dude your have no idea what you're talking about. Special coding to give Wookies armor? Why should we have to surrender stats?
I'm sorry but an extra 450 on the stats in nothing compared to what the armor gives all the other species. Why don't you non-Wookies go so the math before you post here.
You're angry, you're emotional maybe. Either that or you're an idiot.
If they start allowing wookiees to wear regular armor, Wookiees must lose their natural HAM advantage, if you say extra HAM is meaningless, then it should not be a problem for you to give it up...
I think a better idea would be wookiee-only armor. This armor could have naturally high HAM costs to offset the wookiee HAM advantage, as an earlier poster suggested.
I still wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you though.

Why don't you non-armorsmith wookies find a new board to whine on...

Good point!!
Let's see......??? Where should a Wookie go to talk about Armor???? We should but it anywhere but the armor smith's board. The armor smith board would be a stupid place to post suggestions about armor. Especially since the armor smiths will be the ones making the armor. What are all the Wookies thinking? Posting about armor on the armor smith's board. How silly is that?
Hey Wookies!!! Lets move our armor post to the Chef board! I'll start it!
