copied from another post (glad i archived this reposnse seem to have to use it alot:
make a setof composite gloves with an advance comp segemt and no layers to see what your baseline resists are 1st.
for example if you end up with 55% then you know to reach 80% you need 80-55= 25 points between the 3 layers.
in this case 4/4 layers can work as long as you get 4.2 on one of the resist lines (fractions count round up) so if your layers ended up 4.2 base and 4 kin you would end up with 55+(4.2*3) base or 68% base and a 55+(4.2*3)+(4*3) or 80% kinetic.
you can figure base fractions along the lines of each point of % in the middle line = .04then add 1. so if your middle line is experimented out to say 78% that would equal 78 * .04 =3.12+1= 4.12 on base. so to get 4.2% base on the layer you would have to hit 80% on the experiment line. 80 * .04 = 3.2 +1 = 4.2. this on 3 layers would = 12.6 and round up to 13% base resist.
this took me FOREVER to figure out and i must say the help of several smiths.

thanks that helped , math too much for me but made sense

I use 4 percent base (about 93 percent on crafting), and 4 percent on the kin (whatever rolls with the assembly...
Then... I experiment the segments to about 92 percent and get 34 Base, 13 Kin for the segments...
That gives me about 70 Base, 80 Kin armor...
Hope this helps...
