Long asnwer:
There is no "real" smuggler profession. We are all people who choose not to follow any given system of government and live life the way we feel most inclined too. Some choose to follow a leader, some an ideal, and some do it just for fun. We have no real "standard skills" just a collection of similar abilites and traits and a title given to us by a (mostly) ungrateful society who view of "business" with disgust. We associate with crime lords and the "black market" because they are the only "contacts" in which we can confide and the only "customers" who value our "services". When some one asks why I do what I do, I simply smile and walk away, for they can never understand that my "services" are ment for a specific "market" and altho that "market" is not as "legitimate", or as openly accpeted, as your more typical consumer market, are services are neccessary to the galaxy as a whole, along with any other profession.
Now as to the idea that we are not a real profession, I agree. As with my description of our "profession" we are not technically a normal profession. Some smugglers choose to focus on specific areas of "expertise" while others are more of a "jack of all trades." Either way, the Devs have taken this idea into account and made us they way we are.
Short answer:
I'm a long time smuggler, and I will be to the end.

I am now grinding MBH as it has always been my long term goal for SWG. I am planning to go MBH with either Mcarbine or MBH/undecided carbine partial (0,4,0,0 thinking)+ undecided 0,0,3,0 pist. What I am interested in knowing is this.
If I am armed with a carbine or lightning cannon, Does the Pistoleer Dodge and defenses apply? Or do I have to have a pistol equiped for this to apply. If so what is purpose to mix carb/pist as in so many others templates mentioned?

In general all seconadary defenses (dodge, defense acuity, comabt equilibrium, counterattack, block, saber block, toughness, and center of being) will only work if a weapon that uses those skills are equipt. However, Melee Mitigation, Range Mitigation, Melee Defense, Range Defense and Defense vs xxx all function regardless of the weapon equipt.

Also good to know all skills except speed and accuracy max out at 125 from your template. Skill tapes and clothing can increase these mods by an additional 25, and food/drink/looted stims can increase them even further.
Speed is broken in that once you hit 100, you are hitting any special for any weapon in that profession. Note that some professions do nto even need 100 to hit speed cap, but based on the game calculations performed, 100 gaurantees even teh slowest weapon/special combo will be going off every second.
Accuracy has no known limit.

From piecing everything together from the hints and the documentation, all skill stacking will disappear due to the CURB. All skills will be based on the weapon you have equipped. That's why I'm sticking with with my master bounty hunter and master pistoleer template.

Thank you this does help clarify. So I would be it to be wise to mix the pistoleer defenses even though I plan on not using a pistol. And that wasting sp on melee trees defenses unless mastering a melee profession. So going with pistoleer will give you good defenses and save sp to place into medic or more carbineer trees. Would carbineer counterattack be worth the sp with the pist def. or just add to the carbineer offensive trees?

Counter attack is a broken mod for now in PvP and only functions in PvE. So i'd not waste the points on it.

Guess I'll have to just go with Mbh with a little into Carbine then. No since in getting some pistoleer with CU soon. I'll just use this time to practice with everything so by the time CU comes I'll be ready. And give me time to see what trees to go into on Carbineer.

just wondering how many of you JEDI out there think that there should be a light vs dark war and jedi should be removed from the GCW.
I'm asking honestly, all personal feelings aside. We are all people behind the keyboards here.

It has been discussed many times here. But there has not AFAIK been an actual vote on it. Some are for it. Some are against it.

Maybe there's allready a tool in place to ignore a specific user on the forums?
How about an "Arrow" that does the oppisite of "sticky'ing" a post but drop it off the boards entirely?
