Thread: 100% Composite?
First off, Congrats very impressive indeed
i am a fellow armorsmith (not master yet but getting there) and have been curious if it was even possible, now i know ![]()
as for everyone else saying it's unbalancing, well maybe they are but the armor is not impervious, it does have weaknesses, stun, bleed, disease, poison. not to mention how EXTREMELY RARE it is. i would say leave it as is. i can't remeber who said it, but someone wrote something to the effect of now that there is one it will become more and more common, i don't see how this is possible, one person on one server makes one set of gloves at 100% in what 4 months now (not including beta) maybe in another 4 months someone will get lucky and make a helm or boots (chest if lucky) on a different server. i say for now with as rare as it is there is absolutely no reason for "nerfing" it. when/if the day comes that it starts to become common (which i don't see happening within the next 3-4 years if ever) then readdress the situation.
just my hummble opinion

The expirimentation on test is now half as effective as what we have now. 4% max increase so 100% composite will never happen. SOE's way of making end game content tougher i guess ![]()

Well, Creature Handlers are a lot more common then Krayt Segments of that calibur are they not? I don't really see a motive for your "even if it's rare, it's unbalancing" manner of thinking. It's not like he has a full suit, it's just the gloves. And to be honest, how many times do the gloves get hit? The time and dedication it would take to complete a full suit is just the right amount of time for a seemingly invincible armor. Of course it's unbalancing, Jedi are unbalancing. And the way things are going now, we will have a Jedi before a full suit of this armor.
*Bolding added for emphasis*
You don't see a motive in my thinking, yet you agree with it?
Well, I could have had a better quote for that. But what I meant was, I agree it's unbalancing, but it's so rare it doesn't have to be nerfed.
Man it bums me out that all I'm hearing on this thread is "aw geeze That shouldn't be allowed" or "Well shoot he's never going to get a full suit so who cares?"
Me, I say Congrats man! That's Freaking awesome and I Hope you can get a Full freaking suit of the stuff! Punch a Krayte in the face for me when you do ^^

I don't think it's because of one set of gloves.. I think it's because of all the over 90% that are being made.. I read through the smuggler's forum, and one said he has made several effectiveness slices the other night, resulting in several over 90% pieces.
I made a set of boots the other night, they were base 66%. I crit failed on one experiment, and got 1% elec to go with it.. sigh.. so they sit in a bag looking perty. Wonder what sort of slice I might have gotten..
Did anyone else read the patch notes from the test center? Thunderheart says
Smuggler
The maximum effectiveness of sliced armor can no longer exceed 90%.
Allow me to clarify.. the crit fail sent the elec to 1%, and shot up the base to 66%...it was insane..
I have slowly backed away from making any more composite, except for guildmates, they don't xp like other armor
Found out after making several pieces, you dont xp on special resists, you do on base or ham.. sigh..

So I guess this means these gloves are absolutely priceless.
I didnt hit the elusive 100% but I have had the pleasure of making some 80% pre-slice stuff using 65% Exceptional Krayt Segments... too bad its capped at 80% pre-slice. After slicing the Chest came out to 92%, and the Helmet was 99%

Oh another thing about them saying it was doctored due to the low ham costs on it, when I made the armor with the 65% segments it only took 2 point to get it to 80% leaving me with 8 points to use on lowering ham costs, the downside of that, that I didnt notice right off was that in using so many point on ham it actually reduced the def% to 78% when I used 8 points for lowering the ham cost.

Musta cried when it didn't round up to 100, I know i woulda have.
