Hello there,

I used to be a BH and am now trying out a TKA. I have read people saying they have 80% composite armor. I wanted to ask is that sliced for effectiveness? Does that means that you have 80% resists across the board? or only in a few areas?

If its only in a few areas, what is the best to get and what are the other resists at?. If a few people could list their stats for their good composite, I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks for your help/responces.

multi layer armor.

Not all are 80% across the board, but usually kinetic/acid/electric etc.

i think they got some special protection and then the rest are really high base which is then sliced for eff. and got up to 80-90% i believe u can have unlayered armor (lower hams) all 90% base with good building matierals(sp? its late) and machines and a luckily good eff slice. not sure if im right tho course with a 90% res comp armor lots o' mind and good buffs ur invincible=jedi

yes ive seen 80s across the board (i wear 79 plate and helm) but is grossly expensive... ~300k per armour peice. and not to mention heavy... doubt anyone could wear a full suit of it without buffs.

i have a full suit with i think 68% base, and 80% kintetic 74 electric and 25 stun. Cost me about 400k, and no i cannot wear a full suit, but just barely. If i was human id have no problem....

So when the moun gold wears off and my stats go to neg numbers, I shouldn't worry about that?

If you examine the armor, you'l see encumberance figures for health, action, and mind. These are the numbers subtracted from thesecondary stats (i.e. Health encumbrance deducts from strength and stamina).

Try this as an exercise, record the three numbers for eack of the 9 pieces. Total the numbers of each of the 3 columns. These total numbers are the stats needed in each of the related secondary stats. So say the health column totals 575. That means that both strength and stamina need to be at 575.

If it's not going on that means that your secondary stats are to low. There are a number of steps that can be taken.

1) Stat migration - If just a small tweak is needed you can shift your stats to accomodate it.

2) Slicing - The slice is a random % of either increased effectiveness, or lowered encumberances. This will make the stats needed to wear the armor lower if good encumberance slices are gotten. (Note, sliced armor is considered illeagal by imperial scanning teams)

3) Food, spice, etc. - Temporarily increases the secondaries. You only need the secondaries at the right level to actually put the armor on. After the food and spice wear off you still wear the armor until you take it off.

4) Doctor and musician buffs - Similar to food, but longer lasting and more powerful. (Doctors can buff the health and action secondaries, musicians can buff the mind secondaries.)

No, it'll stay on you. But if you take it off, you won't be able to put it back on again.

I reccomend adjusting your stats to fit, if they're not too far off.

Being able to take off the armor so you can heal without stimpacks is nice, and there's mind pools to think about too.

You may wat to also consider gettting the suit sliced by a master smugger, to cut down on the HAM costs. This makes your suit illegal to have out in the open, but so far, that dosen't seem to be a HUGE problem.

The only problems are that your regen time will be very slow, and special moves will use a lot of your HAM.

Right ok that makes sense, how long does stat migration work? I set up for it seems like a week ago and I barely notice any change

1) What specific stats are keeping you from wearing the armor?

The cost of the armor effects your secondary stats, even though it has a Health cost it really need a high Strength and Stamina to cover the cost.

2) Has the armor been sliced?

Important for wearing Composite. Pray for an encumbrance slice since this will lower the cost to wear the armor. Unfortunatly, smugglers cannot choose an encubrance slice there is a 50% chance the will lower the encumbrance and 50% chance they will raise the protection.

I actually bought three complete suits and got them sliced. Then only wore the piece with the best encumbrance slice. That is why I bought three suits, better chance of getting at least one of each piece with an encumbrance slice. If you get lucky and get more than one you can select the one with the best encumbrance slice.

3) Have you tried migrating your stats?

Once you get the armor sliced you might be lucky and have enough stats to wear it. If not you need to lower Health, Action, and Mind to free up enough point to raise the appropriate substats. Migration takes several days for the changes to take place.

Dont worry about lowering your HAM a bit since you will get the protection of armor and wont be taking as much damage.

You will find many who say that spice is the way to go but if you character does not believe in using illegal drugs than you have a few additional options.

- Chef Food has been enhanced and you might be able to get the same effects using food.

- Doctor buffs raise all your Health and Action stats so you can wear the armor, then you only have to worrry about the Mind stats.

I'm doing some research on Composite Armor for my character. I don't know much about armor at all so I'm looking for some help from the people here on the forums. =)
Could you all give me the low down on armor stats and what stats would be best for our profession?
I really appreciate the help.
