Armorsmith Archive
Thread: What do people think of this change which went to Test today:
I just wish they seemed to actually pay attention to us. I am not concerned with new armor at all, I WANT BUGS FIXED.
On a side note, if you plan to remove one of our main ways to sell armor, then you are hampering trade in this game, and making it even more difficult on us. I for one am already considering dropping armorsmith now also if this does go live. I could just dump my resources on the market and switch to a less aggravating profession.... hey is there one? lol...

FFS what are these people on crack? 150 item limit? with no bags? thats oh what 15 sets of padded, i can sell that off in a couple hours.. what am i supposed to stand there and fill my vendors all day?
As far as database issues and people collecting items, do they really think this is gonna stop people from collecting and storing items... Currently i have 40 lots available to me i can toss up 1 house and 38 factories to store a total of 3950 items, then toss up 6 vendors and put an additional 900 items on them for a grand total of 4850, then up this limit with 4 saftey deposit boxes for a total of 5250.. plus another 4 characters with back packs for another 440 items for a grand total of 5690 items.
As far as "stealing" from people by putting empty bags on vendors, I'm sure people do this, but it is also trackable... so ban the idiots that do this sort of thing.
Most armorsmiths when selling sets will put it right on the bag description "Full set composite 80% Kinetic, 72% electricity, 62% base, encum 500/500/500" No need to view the stats here.. And for those that dont know if you get details on a bag you can see the number of items in it.
They wanna cut down items? do we really need 50 different types of hide/bone/meat every week?? or heck for that matter the same mineral never spawns twice so this week Mocieg could be a good steel next week Giiido could be a good steel.. be simple to just have the same Mocieg spawn the next time a good steel is due to spawn... sheesh
The proper database fixes should be to allow resources to stack to 1,000,000 units and ALL factory crates contain 1000 units. A schematic can produce 1000 items, right?
The database problem, in terms of numbers, isn't whatplayers keep on the vendors, it's what they keep inside their factories, banks and backpacks.
If SOE fixed these two simple things, people wouldn't need to store their stuff on vendors... How long does it take an armorsmith to sell out full suits of armor placed inside of backpacks on the vendor? a few days? then the armor it out of the pack and being worn... There is NO CHANGE in their database values cept that they loose one backpack when it's deleted upon the sale of the armor.
There is something else going on here than what the dev's are telling us. Their explination for the changes doesn't add up if "database" problems come from crates and individual items or stacks. In terms of an equation, a factory crate has the stats of the item, a serial number, and a quantity variable. If you make all factory crates hold 1000 items, those items that come out in crates of 25 are reduced by40 times. Those that come out in 50 are reduced 20 times. Resources stacking to a million units will further reduce database "problems" from anywhere to 2 to 10 times, across every server.
Two simply fixes having 2 to 40 fold reductions in database load. Then factor in the items that will be taken OFF vendors to be re-stacked. The solution is too simple, why don't they make these two fixes? It solves everything.
Why they haven't made these two simple fixes is beyond my understanding. Any amateur coder who understands databases will see the problem right away. Limiting vendors is only going to create MORE DATA, not less...
That's why I don't buy their explination...

Master Armorsmith, Weaponsmith and Artisan. Radiant server.
this change is moronic.
so anytime someone wants a custom order we have to run around to all ends of the galaxy to transact only to find them overt of the opposing faction, etc.???
completely idiotic.
