Well, we are out right and well Justifieably Disgruntled. and that's putting it mildly. We all pay a certain amount of bucks per month to play a game, to enjoy a service. Our investment. they go to fix up some stuff, fine, I can deal with that, we all coulddeal with that. but when they leave us with a half (Insert word here) system like the CU, witch will cause more trouble then good, then ya, we're a tad up in arms about it. But to givethem a fair chance we used the proper channels, Used our main means thourgh a corriespondant that ACTUALY cares, and our buddy gets the 5 pointer right between the goal posts.

Ya, we're testy.

We voiced a way to make this a better game. a better game would mean more players. more players means mo money intheir pocket, and busy servers where their networkers would be doing more then playing ping pong and pool in the "relax lounge".

Minus that Marmiam (sp) issue, we been rather good. heated but good.

All i care about is the fact that our community, at the time I wrote the post, was falling apart. If you feel like I'm trying to slip into Okram's spot, you're sadly mistaken as I already expressed the fact that I'm not sure I'll even apply for the position.

Most people who know me on here will vouch for my honesty.

First of all, congrats on being named the as correspondent.

Second of all, proposing changes to the cu has been given at many different avenues. When we did, that is when our illustrious dev came in and I believe it just fanned the flames more.

But if you want something constructive, let me throw something at you. The organic resources, eventhough lowered are still way outside the curb, its too much. Yes, as monroe stated, we might not use some of the said resources, but ive got a feeling alot will, and the insane amts still needed are still to high. If we could just get a response to why they are this high if there is a reason, I think that would go along way.

The other thing is factory times as you posted on another post I believe. They are too long. I know on live now, its like 427 seconds to 472 seconds on my factories to make a peice of armor, and this was acceptable if not annoying. He they could give us an answer to why they were increased as they were I think that would help.

Thanks in advance and hope this will be taken as constructive and not a gripe. Pokes fun at Zion, Im just kidding zion, your pretty kewl. You and I can take jabs and still laugh, that says something about your character mate.

When you have 75% of the people upset about the CU. That should tell you something right there. I been around since beta and this is the icing on the cake, I do not like and I will not stand for this CU, therefore two of my accounts are going bye bye. I am sure if half the people do what they say, that will get Mr Lucas's attention when he get his royality check in the mail.

I will keep my jedi account, which I will not need armor, haha.

I'm not writing this to address him. It's about all of you.

I think highly of many of you. Skinny, Zion, all of you who post even more than I do on here. But take a step back and just look at our forum page. It's an utter wreck. We're angry and upset, I know. If we keep behavior like this up, people will remember us not as a community that endured the changes of the CU and worked through it, but as the community that went berserk and fell apart. *END EDIT*

I'm not trying to be inspirational. I'm not trying to rally the troops. I just want people to calm down and start offering solutions, not finger pointing. Be professional. We are the Armorsmith profession. If we continue to self-destruct, the profession will die. Period.

Your act gets old really fast, Zion.

Armorsmiths had a legitimate reason for exploding over the past week. What is being implemented is the death of the profession as we know it and will erase much of the time and effort many people have put into the game over the past two years, especially in terms of resource collection. You can quibble over the forms of protest, but I daresay it wasn't a bad thing the explosion happened, when all is said and done. The paramount concern for many was helping SOE appreciate the havoc these changes are visiting upon the profession. When there was silence in response to the major complaints about the changes, it was hard to know that SOE was listening.

Now, I think we can say unequivocally that SOE heard the complaints--and will proceed more or less as planned because it thinks it knows better. The leveling system is here to stay, and the significance of armor crumbles in its wake. That was probably survivable. But the simplified crafting system is the final nail in the coffin. If you can't differentiate your product from others, there's no reason to buy your armor over someone else's, apart from price. This, more than anything else, kills the soul of what it is to be an armorsmith.

The new resource requirements are, frankly, the least of the armorsmith concerns. Even if you restored the old resource requirements, I think the profession is dead as we know it, in light of the two points mentioned previously. Indeed, I expect SOE to bend on the resource point and say it is listening to us, much as it has already done for docs. It will be an extremely hollow victory, even so. Even if SOE doesn't change these requirements, people will adapt them.

To the new armorsmith correspondent, good luck. You were the safe, obvious choice for SOE, not least for the sentiments expressed in the opening post of this thread. The game will carry on, and convention dictates that profession must have a correspondent. Tag, you're it. I have no doubt that SOE will get what it expects from a correspondent, in your case.

To the previous correspondent, thank you. You broke the rules and were fired for it, but I feel you did it in the best interests of your fellow armorsmiths, and a great many of us appreciate that you were willing to put your neck on the block to ensure, at a minimum, our concerns were heard.

To Zion, stand down from your soap box already. You've held the floor long enough, and you really aren't contributing anything.

By their very nature, all MMORPG's are always in a form of beta. You don't like it? Don't play MMORPG's.

That's a fairly loose and evasive way to reply to that post. "A form of beta"? In a sense yes you make a valid point. However ultimately that statement is misleading; for beta testing we have beta testing. There was beta forSWG, beta for JTL. For publishes as well as major updates we have Test Centre.

What happened to the CU closed beta? Oh that's right, it was abandoned in favour of pushing straight to an open beta to meet a corporate deadline, wasn't it? I seem to remember being constantly reassured that the combat upgrade wouldn't be rushed and would be released when ready. It now seems that it is being pushed to live on or around the time of the ROTW expansion regardless.

Yes MMO's are in constant flux and changes and bugs are part and parcel. However it's fairly asinine to pretend that nothing out of the ordinary is happening here. For a change this large we might reasonably expect a significantly longer closed beta than the current testing is offering. After this the "open beta" on test centre to be used to iron out remaining bugs and issues. Instead we get an all too brief beta on test then, presumably regardless of feedback or level of bugginess, a push to live for several months of paying to beta test what should be on test centre for those who wish to test it.

I also note you've taken the standard "if you don't like it quit" line and expanded it to "quit MMO's". With your clear ability to dictate to players what they should and shouldn't do, you really should be working for SOE. If the feedback statistics are representative, are you sure you want 75% of the players to quit? Well, even if they do, they may just choose to chance their luck with another company and play a different MMO to see how the communication, honesty and attention to community feedback works there.

I'm sorry if this comes across as a personal flame, it wasn't particularly meant that way, but I thought FishDoc made a good point and found your response somewhat obtuse. Nevertheless I don't propose to suggest what actions you or anyone else who feels positively about the CU should take.

In the hopes that, out of the doom and gloom, we shall all get back on track with the game we love,

Thanks for the post Caile but I have to disagree.

AS is going the way of DE, ID, etc, etc. If you don't stand up and say something when you need something done, you have no-one to blame but yourself when that thing doesn't get done.

Let's realisticly look at the process. The Devs have way more stuff to deal with than they possibly have time for. The squeeky wheel gets the grease. They don't have to like me. They do have to fix it.

It's my right and responsibility to speak up about things that matter to me - even if it is "just a game". I'd like it to stay "just a game" and not become "just a stupid game".

It's clear that the Dev's did not pay attention when the AS community rationally expressed their problems. The devs have no-one to blame but themselves for the wreckage that is now the AS forums.

I'm glad you're here. I'm glad we've got their attention. I'm glad they've got the fire extinguisher out. Maybe the game will still be fun in 3 weeks.
