Also, would this be a good template?

4040 in Brawler, Teras Kasi Master, Master Medic, Master Doctor. Or would it be better to just take limited Medic skills and go for anotherCombat Profession, like Swordsman, Pikeman, or Fencer, or perphaps even a Ranged one.

nope. tkm Doc is perfect for post CU. u get ahold of one of those high DPS knucklers and u'll be good to go.

All elite combat profs require 2 branches of the lower class before you can get novice elite... that is just how it is. It's not intended to be "logical" it is intended to be "balanced."

I happen to prefer logic to balance, so I think it's stupid, but... what can you do?

TKM/MDoc is a great template now. i would advice master brawler instead of master medic thou, as with master brawler u get some of the specials TKM misses (bleeding, area knockdown and another high damage hit).

It seems ranged attacks often do half or even 1/4th of what they should do, im afraid no one knows why :/. On another note, ranged attacks delivered by baby pets seem to do full damage as though they were full grown.....

And if you have a low combat level, don't group with your pet. It will mitigate damage like it was your level. So if you're CL1 and you group with it, it will hit like a CL1.

Smuggler's Alliance privateer mission. First escort mission.

When I arrive at the ship they want me to escort, a wave of 4 black suns attack. I kill two black suns, each time getting messages "three targets remaining"..."two targets remaining"...then another wave comes. The npc I'm defending says "here come the black suns". Ok, I think, so now I have 6 left.

But no. Soon I get another "here come the black suns" message from my npc buddy. Ok, 10 black suns left....ok, 20....etc.

In the fray I notice that there are other convoy ships nearby, and there seem to be player ships sometimes...so what I'm thinking is that other players are getting the same waypoint on this mission and all of our black suns are attacking all of us.

I don't know. I suppose I canget friends to help me if I have to, but I can't get any training until this mission is completedand the tier 1 components are quite limiting. Sorry for the rambling post but I've been at this all night and I'm burnt.

That should be a straightforward mission, you might just be having bad luck with other players doing it at the same time you are.

Good escort tactics -

- Shoot to disable, it's faster, just leave their ships in space to blow. Target individual components with the [ and ] keys.

- When the wave is incoming, try to line up on one ship, slow down, and blow it before it even gets close.

- Feel free to switch targets and keep as many as possible interested in you and not the escort vessel

- Fly out ahead of your escort about 50 meters or so, great spot to meet the incoming waves.

- Always target bombers first. For Freelance ships like Black Suns watch for Inixyen Fast Attack Ships and Rihxkekardksae. Yes, those are mispelled.

The only ships you need to worry about are the ones with bright boxes around them. If they ALL have bright boxes then there is indeed a problem. Multiple player's missions shouldn't be adding up, unless they are grouped.

I know I had no problem with this on one RSF mission, I was running an escort with somebody else running the same mission 50m behind me. The fun came later, when we each had one of those nasty destroy 2 gunboats and 10 fighters missions in the same location...

Problem is, they can all agro him.
But he can only damage the ship that is his mission.
