Thanks for the answer, pyke :-) I was just about to start an experiment to check this, so you saved me an hours boring work (since I have artisan on one toon and as on the other, and can only log in with one at a time)

Will PSG generators sell? And what should be a fair price to set for them? Obviously as I progress in skill i'll be able to make more powerful generator units, and as a sideline i've stocked my vendor unit on Kauri (tatooine 2704 -5707) with crates of armor segments, voritor lizard scales, cores, and other supply items for other armorsmiths.Arkaka BanirBanir's Armorwerks & ShieldsTalus/Tatooine
I think the best thing you could do for yourself is grind up to technique 4 to get as many experiment points as you can. I'd be surprised if you could sell too many PSGs at 263 protection. New players you might buy them probably don't know what they are or how to use them, and an established player is not likey to touch them.
With technique 4, you'd have seven experiment points that you could then dump into protection. I wouldn't worry about condition or recharge rate on basic PSGs.
FYI Mk. 3 PSGs with 2000+ energy and 67 recharge are selling for about 20k on Scylla.

Well I've never tried to sell them personally but I've only made Mark III PSGs so couldn't tell you if that is good protection either.
But for my Mark III ones I get them to 2400 protection, about 95% on the experimentation.

thanks pykescylla. i'll probably toss what i have made on to the bazaar at a bargain basement price and continue grinding. i had wanted to make at least a small production run of MK.Is just to get an idea of how much work time would be involved in the process. heh, pretty complicated if you consider a production run for each subcomponant and then a final production run that assembles everything into a PSG, likeseven production runs total just to have a batch.

Compair it to most Si-Fi story lines where a personal shield gernerator can stop a speeding bulit but a slow blade can pass through it.
Now SWG. The PSG will stop energy bolt projectiles, but not melee or the lightsaber.

PSG protects against only RANGED energy damage.
If this included force power attacks I don't know, but it surely doesn't defend vs LS
