Thread: An appeal for the Force Sensative Crafter

A crafter would need (WS again) 450,000 units of material to master once. (this is at a straight 2 to 1 unit/exp ratio). To master 27 time you would need 12,150,000 units of material. At a 2cpu basis this turns into 24,300,000 units of material. Nothing can be hand ground that would be of much value, so this is almost completely waste. And dont even get me started on the shame that you have doen to the architect. The one possible profession that could have made this grind with out completely throwing out all their goods, and you give them a 35 to 1 exchange.
....
This forum is not the best place to voice your complains. While I agree that the costs of grinding the 4 force crafting trees are high, any weaponsmith worth his salt should be able to make the money he needs for the grinding resources.

okay....what the heck are you talking about?
I posted this in all the craftng forums to try to elevate it's visibilty. I also actually happen to be a ws.
Please let me know, because your response really doesn't make any sense to me.

if you want your voice heard, you should put in it test center, or in a developement thread asking about force quests and such, or even in the core systems thread...

You do know that when JTL comes out ... you essential get 2 characters in one. The skill set you have now is for the land portion of the game and when you are in space you get an entirely different set of skills. 250 skilpoints to use on land and 250 skill points to use in space. SO essentially 2 characters .. 1 toon.

There are a lot of people doing these not for jedi but for a second character. Jump to light speed is coming with new races and shipwright. Many are looking at this chance for a second char to use that new content without leaving their old skills/char behind.
That is incorrect. Piloting takes zero skill points. Shipwright and its advance profession takes normal skill points. So no, you don't get anything close or similar too a second character like you do when you unlock. Many actually want a second character to play other professions already in the game or to play shipwright.

maybe it is a crazy idea, but I think they should give you less experience for chosing the "practice" option when crafting. This would at least reward crafters for trying to contribute to the economy. I doesn't directly address the issue mentioned here but it at least doesn't reward players for destroying everything they craft.
The balance there is while more exp is attained via practice, the grinder loses the materials and has nothing to sell to regain lost credits spent on attaining them. A Master Merchant with 12 vendors stocked to the hilt with Advanced Droid Frame Units, or Gungan Head Statues isn't contributing to the economy......

Ail,
I don't know anyone who loves crafting the same thing over and over and over again to get it perfect. That just isn't life. People don't like repetitive, mindless things that a monkey or a 3d-party computer program could do if properly instructed.
That just isn't a good way to spend leisure time.
When someone says they love to craft, they are talking about actually making things, not just clicking the same buttons over and over again until everything is totally perfect.
What market is it that you are getting into these days that is netting you so much FS experience? I'd like to know. I know some folks who want padded. Is that what you are talking about?
to grind you dont have to make the same thing over and over
I did my last "run" of 25 odd suits of wookiee armor all by hand
I made all the pants and bracers white on white and made the chests all white with different colors
I have been making comp by hand too, may pick up padded again after I get backfrom vacation

Hologrinding caused hyperinflation, much as credit dupes do. Whether or not you feel that hyperinflation is good for the game economy would frame your opinion on the net effect of hologrinding.

anyone who's ever said the holo craze was bad for the economy obviously doesn't understand the economy.
I agree with Lurax and disagree with you.
An economy benefits when the number of customers increases and holo grinding did indeed have that effect.
Raising the number of players that needed weapons/armor/food/meds and resources....
PS: and I never spend 80 mill on resources any week because I have reached a point where I can heavilly influence the price of any resources , and if the seller doesn't like it he can either adjust his price or let it rot in his storage....

You're spending 1 skill point for skills that would on average require you to spend 3 or 4. Suck it up. If you want to be the best, you have to work for it.
I'm sick of all this FS 'its not fair' bull crap. You know what's not fair? crafters don't have one ounce of risk involved in their FS quest. No risk of decay, no risk of dying, no risk of anything. All you have to do, if you choose is sit there inside your house, invulnerable to everything, and click buttons.
Even your cost analysis sucks. Along with that armor why don't you factor in the countless buffs, weapons, slices, and healing? stop it already. They made it easy to be a Jedi, now you want em to make it easier? screw that.Problem is you can go and get force sensitive XP just doing your profession, I can not... The way I work now, using factories for the bulk of production as that is the only way to get the best quality, I need to sell about 25 billion credits worth of armor.... That's not going to happen in my lifetime, so I have no option other that to 'grind' pointless items that have nothing to do with my profession.
Also - you get the advantage of a master profession to speed things up, we get nothing for mastering our profession to make things go quicker... I would like to see you get the force sensitive tree's with only novice marksman. If we need to grind XP that's effectively all we have to use.
This system was not thought out well, I am not complaining because it is hard, I am complaining because it is near impossible!
1) I can get the xp for senses, but can't unlock the tree with my slicing skills. So while you're sorta right about me being able to get xp with my profession, its moot because I can't unlock the tree.
2) you stated that you could infact get the xp required for your stuff by doing your profession, it would just take a long time. Isn't that the point?
3) actually mastering professions for you speeds things up as well, because you have additional schematics to work from.
4) it's not near impossible. Its near impossible to do short-term, yes. But the path to Jedi isn't supposed to be easy now is it?
