random person: Hey

me:...........

random person: you there?

me:..........(doesn't want to but goes ahead).......yea

random person: do you want to buy X (X= random item worth 100k-20mill) for X million?

me: I don't really need that

random person: O, well do you want to buy X?

I do not know how many tells I get from random people to try and sell me stuff. It is like "this guy is an armorsmith he must be loaded" Well we wouldn't stay rich if we kept buying stuff (I buy a lot as it is, don't need the random guy selling my stuff)

I am sure there are lots of you out there with constant tells from people trying to sell you random items

I traded a guy a few suits of composite for a varactyl. The next time I log in I get an e-mail saying "Hey, I hear you'll trade armor for a varactyl."

Just how many of those lizards do I need?

My best filter to find my best customer is called TIME.

The second best filter to find my best customer is called MONEY.

The third best filter to find my best customers is called KNOWLEDGE.

I think my production level as a crafter is akin to that being like a semi-active volcano. When I get motivated, my productivity rumbles into gear and those in the know with a watchful eye tend to reap the best benefits from my activity.

My loyalties to crafting are as follows:

Wookiee traditional goods. Bowcasters and Kashyyykan Armors. That gets top priority.

Guild needs. Since half of the active Guild is Jedi, this tends not to be focused so much.

Solid customers. There are people who I have worked with, at this point, for years.

Innovative customers. Customers with manners.

My good friend and fellow retired Brian Weaponsmith, Echal of Pure Pork Arms, started the 'Things never to ask a Weaponsmith' thread long ago. In its irony, its both a humor and learning thread... a place to blow off steam from ancidotal encounters.

As always, Emotion defies logic. The clueless will not read for context, and as always, your and my own opinions mileage may vary.

well looks like I wasa bad boy so here i am as me.... at any rate this just happened a few minutes ago

Buying starship parts at NURV on my main toon, and some guy just walks right up to me... the conversation is as follows

him: You know where I can buy armor?

me: yes my shop is at such and such

him: How much for rebel battle armor

me 675k per suit 5500ish stats

him: What?!? I got this capped unlayered composite for 475k

me: well it costs me about 2 mil per set of schematics for FP

him: no it doesnt comes to only 1 mil..... (me trying to keep my cool for him talking about what he knows nothing about in a almost completely imp controlled server)

me: well if you can find it for cheaper with similar stats, which I doubt you will, let me know

him: well what about non-faction armor?

me: well if you'd like non faction just send me an email and I'll get it for you but I cant right now cause I'm about to log for the weekend.

at this point I'm about to ignore him when guess who drops by the shop at the same time.... It's Monroe!!!!

we gab a sec (bonehead is still there)

him: (completely gaffs me off) Monroe can you make me some armor?

Monroe: Well I'm semi-retired now

him: Can you Sami-retire after you make me some "uber" armor?

Monroe: I have to be in the right mood for that

Me: Yeah monroe get back to work! We're not allowed to have fun! /crackwhip

him: lol (obviously missed the point of my comment)

Monroe: agrees with me and my sarcasm

Me: k later guys gotta go

Him: (sends me a tell) Can you get on Nuna right now and make me armor right now?!?!

Me: Sorry no I have to log, wont be back til Sunday, send me an email and I'll get it for you as soon as I can

him: well by then I'll have already found some

me: ok have fun finding it

me: /quit

*sigh* Where do these people come from?

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I've never had anything happen to me that approaches what firehammer just posted. ::shudder::

Why is it so hard for folks to type in near-complete sentences? Or use something similar to what we call grammar? Or use the shift key? Or expend the extra effort needed to type "I see" instead of "ic"?

Maybe I need to switch servers. I get someone like this once a week. Granted I always leave my armorsmith tag up. Of course I was egging this one on =) I'll post another in a few days/hours... heh

See, that's probably it, leaving your AS tag up, particularly if you're also on the player search list. Most of my "hello" tells are from referrals or returning customers, and they're generally coherent.

Something that's worked really well for me lately has been putting up a "how-to order" guide on my custom order vendor.

This happened to me yesterday to my non-AS player.

Noob: Can you lend me $100k?

Me: No

Noob: Why?

Me: Cause I don' tknow you.

Noob: But I need a some more money to buy this faction armor.

Me: So

Noob: Come on, It's just $100k.

Me: Please don't make me add you to my ignore list.

Noob: I really need this armor. You don't understand.

Me: *silent*

Noob: Please!

Me: /addignore noob

"Noob has been ignored"

This is absolutely ridiculous. How does some one just expect for a complete stranger to pony up money like that? I'll give a guy some shuttle fees if he's dressed in noob clothing...but $100k for faction armor? lol
