Thread: Wookiee armor

Unless you're also a wookiee I wouldn't get to worked up yet. I would give you 50/50 odds on whether or not this armor is going to only be craftable by wookiees...like the bowcaster.
for those of us who are not wookiees, i dont share the same excitement.
I just wonder where the fairness is in having a race of beings in the game, with a substantial advantage in regards to the amount of health and other stats over other races, and then giving them armor which was the only deciding factor between the races in combat situations.
All i know is, when it comes to combat, a wookiee with the same armor as a human or any other race, is going to have an enormous advantage. All this will lead to is more wookiees then any other class across all the servers, as well as people like myself wondering: when will the game finally just be a game? when will it all, if ever, end?

We want to be able to last more than a few seconds in PvP. We just want the same options the others have now.It would be impossible to make it completely even to balance our HAM and negating it with amor. Though it can be close. There are times like you stated that the extra HAM does come in handy. This is an advantage for the Wookiee. But you can balance that out by making Wookiees in armor SLIGHTLY less effective in armor. At this point, with the "combat balance" and everything else getting so complicated, maybe it's time to simplify - give spieces other non-HAM bonuses to compensate and keep it "interesting".Already exist slightly in the racial bonuses such as Bothan camo bonus. Though I think there should be more of them and have them actually be more useful. Each race should have a couple bonuses that are actually useful to a number of different professions.I think right now on paper at least the Wookiee has the most of these. However of the five, one has already been nerfed to uselessness and one or two more are about to get nerfed. That will drop them to two or three.I think it's a messy game to play. Let's talk numbers - what is going to make you happy as a wookie? At what point will you consider yourself "even"?I don't agree with the line of thinking that making the armor a bit less effective is enough to justify the continued bare-wookie +700 HAM. I bet if the Devs opened up the metrics, the amount of people that wear 90% composite armor, which you are asking to be balanced against, would be less than the number of Overt Imperials. As to species skill-bonuses, they seem to have erred on the side of caution with these, and I too would like to see them fleshed out for all species. If we balanced for only the low-game before (bone armor, etc), I think it's just as much a mistake to balance for the only the end-game.Audio
Hrm... in line with talking numbers... I don't know if this has been mentioned or not, but why don't we make buffs run by % of the HAM they are buffing? That way if someone stat-migrated everything away from health, say, he could not get a +2000 buff to health, he would instead get something like a 200% health buff, which would only work out to about 800 + 400 base for 1200 total health.
This could still make the wookie bare stat bonus meaningful over other races.
I did not address armor here, really, but it just occurred to me as a good idea to base things on % * base attribute instead of a raw 2000+ buff point bonus system.
Hmm so the armor is funny looking, but finally at least they got some.
Devs you made it funny looking, but I applaud the fact that it's at least "something".
