i really dont want to whine for it or so, nor do i have anything against wookies or so, but i dont think that it is Star Wars like to allow a wookie wait any armor... a really better, and much more Star Wars like solution would be to get the wookie some basic enhancements like all wookies have automatically 20% kinetic protection or so...

What comes next??? Rebels that can buy AT-STs????

Hey Thnuderheart,

I was reading thru the next update8 and did not see anything about the wookie armour. Has this been pushed back or just not listed?? Can you give us any update or more info??

Thanks so Much

Ok sorry about that, I just get wound up with the "Wookiees shouldn't be able to wear armour" argument from people who aren't wookiees (it's an extension of the "Trandos shouldn't get boots and gloves" argument from non-lizards).

Fact 1: Wookiees and Trandoshans should be the most dangerous races in the game, in combat they should own the battlefield.

Fact 2: They don't, a Mon Calamari in Armour can beat a Wookiee in a fistfight.

That is just plain wrong on so many levels it isn't even funny, in hand to hand combat a Wookie would tear fishboy's arm out of it's socket and beat him to death with it, armour or no armour.

The notion that a wookiee in armour would be more effective in combat than a human in armour is entirely acceptable and in my estimation is exactly how it should be, provided humans get bonuses in other areas to be fair, so I'll tell you what, we'll give the wookiees armour and give you, ooh, I dunno +10 to Frontiering and um, droid experimentation to redress the balance, how's that ?

The wookiee armour will be in it's own patch, stated to be somewhere between patch 7 and 8, it's not part of the droid invasion patch.

Angetenar, that little stunt just proved how immature you are. I'd give that the response it deserves, but said response would dignify you far too much, and probably be in contravention of the Rules of Conduct for the board.

Mark my words...

  1. Wookiees WILL become the template-du-jour because of this change, and

  2. It will end up getting nerfed before it's all over.

Touchy little thing aren't you? If my post shows how immature I am then your oversensitivityshows how immature you are. In other words. I know you are but what am I. Nanny-Nanny Boo-Boo.

So, I've added you to my friends list. How long do you want before I call you on your template-du-jour? One month? Two months? A year? A few weeks when we've seen some stats?

nothing stops you from deleting the character and starting fresh with one that can except your own deliberate refusal to do so.

Well that, and Im at profession 24... but again thanks for your insensativity to our cause!

This is the point I wanted to make. All these non Wookiees say all this tough luck, we knew what we were getting into. BS!!!!. I dont know how many times its going to have to be said, theres about 25 pages of the same thing.

1) It was never stated that wookiees cant wear armor

2) The HAM "bonus" is useless because of capped secondaries

3) Wookiees have no real bonuses since everything we were good at has been nerfed (CH, Warcry/Wookieeroar)

Someone suggested that maybe we are playing the wrong professions, well what professions are we supposed to play? Combat's out of it cause of the obvious lack of armor. Its not entertainers, the Twileks have those bonuses. Its not Medics, the Mon Calamari are best for this. WIth crafting we dont have access to many of the crafting bonuses that come from special clothing which we cant wear, so thats not our ideal profession. WHat do we have left? Politicians and Scouts?!?!?

Well with scout, we cant take on any of the higher level creatures because we have NO kind of protection. Im not asking to be able to solo a krayt, but whycan otherspecies solo a piket lair but wookiees cant? We dont leadership bonuses (SL) and CH got nerfed bigtime. SO what you're telling me is the right profession for a wookiee is politician? PFFFFT

Forget nerfing our HAM bonuses I want to keep them. Its the only "bonus" we still have. IF the armor given to us offers the same amount of protection that composite gives everyone else (with some form of encumbrance to offset the HAM "bonus"), then I ask you what makes us different from any other species? Skill wise what differentiates us from everyone else? If you're going to take away our HAM bonuses then let us have full armor EQUAL to the composite thats out there for everyone else.

Some onewould still cry nerf if they get beat by a full composite wookiee. Eventhough the wookiee would have no bonuses to be nerfed. I guess maybe it was since the wookiee was an uber politician...NERF POLITICIAN!!!

1.) This is not a Flavor of the Month. This is not the same as someone changing there profession, so they can get in the new Uber one. It's very doubtful people will re-roll there toons they have spents months creatingto become a Wookiee. Even the wookiees who have been in this broken species since day one have not re-rolled their toons, so it's very doubtful others will. We have not even saw the armor that is going to be available to us yet, so your prediction is unfounded and absurd.

2.) If the armor created is determined to be too powerful and gives an unfair advantage to the Wookiees, I am sure their will be people crying nerf. So, basically what you would have is a Role-Reversal of how wookiees vs. other species are currently. So if our armor is too powerful, all the people calling us "whiners" now, would have their hypocrytical ass in this forum "whining" for a nerf.

Balance is too be determined by the Developers of the game. Your near-sighted perspective is irrelevant. While I respect your opinion to post here, why don't you go Troll some other forum.

You know, I -STILL- don't get why exactly people don't want Wookiees to wear armor.

The "its not cannon!! Wooks don't wear armor!" is bogus, because in Episode 3 Wookiees will be wearing armor, and that is cannon, and that time period is before the time period of the game.

Gamewise, it is very unfair to single out a single race (a race geared for combat no less) and make them the least effective PvE race. I don't PvP at all, none, zero, nadda, and I can't take 2 quenkers as a master swordsman unless I am buffed. Ok, slight exageration, it might take 3 to kill me unbuffed.

Heck, I had a friend tell me wooks should just get bigger stomachs. I told him to make it fair we needed 10x bigger stomachs (to effectively use Synthsteak in battle allong with a couple other good food buffs, to even things up, still gimped a little that way though). We talked about it a minute, and he realized, yeah, wooks should get armor.

There is NO REASON not to!!

An extra 13% encumbrance would even out our HAM bonus and make it completely level with Adv. Composite, so WHY NOT?

I still haven't heard one solid reason wookiees shouldn't wear armor. The only halfway decent argument was cannon, but since episode 3 is cannon that argument just went up in smoke.

When a Mutant Rancor hits a human for 40 and a wookiee for 400, the 350 extra points we have to spend anywhere other than strength (which does not reduce the damage you take at all) just went out the window, and that is IF we happened to put them all in the pool the Rancor attacked.

You think that is fair? Morons. This game isn't life, its a GAME fair is the POINT. And the devs have been working on fair for everything (slowly for some professions I know, but they are getting there).

And for people saying "well I don't use composite, not many people have 80%", I say BS. I have the cash, I WOULD get 80% composite if I could, but I can't, because I wanted to play a wookiee. I may have known, in the back of my mind, that wookiees wouldn't be having armor. But I had no clue what kind of difference that would make. I started at launch, I've been with my wookiee since launch. I roleplay with my wookiee. If you think I am going to re-roll him so I can have the 10x effective HAM that every other race gets (and it is 10x effective ham, if you do the math on 80% composit with light armor, which is what I would buy). BS, I shouldn't have to re-roll. I'll quit SWG altogether before I do that, there are better games coming out anyway.

The only semi-decent bonus was taming +10, but I can put +25 on a piece of clothing and wear 4-5 such pieces, making that +10 insignificant at best. Rescue? Come on, who is gonna be helped by draggin a mob onto a wookiee who gets killed in 2 hits by any medium sized creature, and 1 by any large creature?

Wookiee roar is nice, but only useable what, once an hour? I know it is at least 15-20 minutes. Not practical as a bonus. Warcry has gone from a very nice solo move, to a mediocre group move (most groups can take out 3-5 big baddies in the duration of the effect, so it isn't all that good).

I don't know, I just don't see why everybody hates wookiees so much. What gives? Its a friggin game for god's sake.
