Thanks! We have been trying to figure it out on the tailor boards too, but so far I can't find any real pattern. The link is here if you want to see if you spot anything useful.

Since this thread seems to have the dev's attetion. I posted something interesting about NPC's having the armor color problem in this thread

/bump -I can confirm that Ja'Wadeen's althas turned into a hamster, and he flatly refuses to change back into an Ithorian until this bug is fixed.

excellent news on the padded, I now know what my impending run of energy layered battle will be now 
I have had succes with black tantel with silver pads and black with gold pads, this is probably captured under your black tantel line though

Actually, I didn't know about the silver/gold pads for tantel - good to know, and a nice change from all-black
And, as general info, I don't claim that the examples I gave will work all the time - there are the occasional failures (one color being off in some cases), so Iwould encouragemaking test runs of one piece to verify that the schematichas the intended colors. (And no, neither is it certain that it is the schematicitself that is bugged, it could be the crate, the factory, or the fact that your reinforced fiber panels were made with ametal that started with the letter "B" for all I know - all I am saying is that it might be the schematic that is bugged, and by testing it before committing to a full run, you can eliminate that potential error..)
