OK, I'm an outsider here also. I played AS a long time ago but know a lot about it and have been keeping up on this. Maybe I can hlep answer your questions here as to why everyone is upset over the armor changes. First if you are truly looking for answers you shouldn't come in by insulting everyone on the board. Second not one armorsmith has complained about not being able to make uber armor anymore, what they are complaining about is the way in which they now have to craft armor. Please see below for individual responses.

A list of some of the issues AS had with CU... and tried to get heard.
-----------------------------------------------------------
# Experimentation more or less removed from the game (ie no diversity in armor anymore)
# Massively increased resource requirements (lets say 200% price increase as a result)
# They ditched named resources AS has been saving for the last 2 years
# And replaced them with around 20 new named resources
# Hard core crafters cant leave the doorstep without risking instant-death by krettles (we cant wear armor anymore)
# Armor certifications...
# Faction armor hideously expensive (you think RIS was expensive?)
Ok here's where you'll start flaming me, but let's see....
#1: What do you mean? I haven't played crafter on TC and this is the first I've heard of experimenting being gone...do you mean its more difficult? the resources are less "flexible", or is it actually removed?
Experimentation has been reduced to only a single line. Where in the old system you had 10-12points to put into severaldifferent things (Special Protection, Base, HAM, or Condition) you now only have one line to experiment on. There are no decisions to be made about where to spend your experimentation points, they have made this completely mindless. Now it's just combine the componets, dump all your experimentation points into the effectivness line and you're done. The only choices you can make are what type of armor you want (Kin, Energy, or elemental) when seleting your layers for the armor. This means that there will be no variety in armor. All armor will have exactly the same stats depending on the protection type. They are mad because this took away all creativity from a profession that use to be the most complex crafting profession, and is now reduced to little more than an NPC because there will be no variety in product.
#2: Maybe its payback for armor being so overpriced in the first place? But come on, I'd really like to see the better armor types a little more rare, your average joe schmoe in SW doesn't run around is badass armor...
You should be just as upset as the AS's about this one. Their concern about this is for their customers mostly. Since twice the resources are now needed to create a set of armor, this means that they have to charge about twice as much for it. Yes armor is expensive but if you've ever been a crafter for any amount of time you'd know how hard it is to collect all of the best resources needed to make their armor. And please remember that since we only have 10 lots per person, and most of us need at least 2 houses for stuff, then that only leaves 6 lots to harvest their own materials, meaning that they often are at the mercy of other resource dealers who charge what they know they can get for good resources. Please don't blame the smiths when you see the price of armor only going up.
#3: about the resources....they did this in the past to other profs...they lived....but i feel for ya, i do, but come on...its not THAT bad
Again this is just something that will effect the price of armor for the customers. By making a lot of the resources they have already collected useless, and making them start from scratch collecting new resources it'll be a lot of money collecting the resources, not to mention it's as if their work has been for nothing.
#4: So you might actually have to have help from combat classes? since missions were brought back down to normal pay range...combat classes don't have any "creative" means of making cash...escorting crafters might be a fun new thing in the game....btw, kreetles don't aggro...things like Thugs and Pirates do....kinda realistic though don't you think if they attack a solo crafter with loads of goodies on him to rob him?
I partly agree with this but please realize that if this is something else that they have to pay for this only adds to the cost of the armor. It's nice that they made PSGs wearable by all but then they went and made them completely useless (good for about 3shots then 15min to recharge roughly, if you didn't know). Not to mention that not everyone can play during primetime when all of their friends/guildies are on. Ifan AS can only play at non-peak hours due to their schedule then are they expected to spend hours trying to find a group to protect them on their harvestor runs? How would you like to go pick up your armor and find a sign saying "Sorry, can't get to harvestors due to lack of time"
#5 Armor certs....that will take 2 hours for any gamer to reach...no one could afford armor before this point anyway so what's that gonna change?
First, have you played the new combat system? It now takes longer than 2hrs to get to a novice elite profession. Now, I'm not completely against armor certs but the system needs to be worked out much better. They have given 1/3 of the armor types to 3 professions. Also there hasn't been word as to how the conversion will go but unless they allow everyone to choose what they want their armor to become, then everyone will be stuck with lots of armor they can no longer use. There willalsobe a lot of people with no armor for a long time until the smiths have time to collect all of the new resources and start filling orders.
#6 I'm totally uninformed on this one...so no comment
Faction armor schematics are purchased by the Armorsmith with FP, which they will have to buy from smugglers because crafters can't participate effectively in combat. The price of FP will most likely only increase after the CU due to the increased difficulty in combat, meaning only more cost for the end user. On top of this the buyer of the armor then has to spend more of their own FP to "biolink" their armor to them. So unless you plan on ADKing your whole suit you won't see a ton of people using this armor in combat due to the fact that a suit will cost millions in FP to buy/wear.

figures, i come here, try to be civil, try to say "hey intelligent guys worthy of your respect, please separate yourselves from the idiots making you look bad" and i get flamed by half the posts...i wasn't being a jerk at all, maybe this is why SOE didn't give you the time of day if this is how you respond when someone tries to be understanding, i'd ignore you too.
By the way, i'm quite sure they fired him for no reason...yes yes...everyone in jail is innocent too.
He broke his contract, he got players to spam the devs, surely if any of you can call down for a sec you can see that's exactly what happened, he messed up. Its frustrating to not get answers, but you guys aren't the only ones being left in the darka bit during the CU, so settle down and quit acting like spoiled brats
LOL you snott-nosed brat, there was nothing civil about anything you wrote, from the title on downward, and you merit no response other thana *slap*
Get clued in, have a grown up explain it to you, then try to keep up with the issues.

Yet all the $$$ you made since launch from missions, loot, etc would not have been possible without the armor you got from us.
