Wideshot

This will probably be redressed in the combat revamp (I hope); but having a small resist to lightsaber damage is likely to make the armour MORE vulnerable to a lightsaber. Currently (flame me out if I'm wrong here) I understand that 'Vulnerability' in an armour rating negates both the light/ medium/ heavy armour rating and also any AP of the weapon. As other armour types are vulnerable to lightsaber damage the saber with it's AP will therefore do more damage to most armour that have resistance to it.

As i understand vulnerability, you would be correct Wideshot. There is a chance, depending on AP and Damage of the weapon used, that if armor is vulnerable to a damage type, it could cause MORE damage than if it had a small resist. Can I explain it? No. WIll it change in the CB? Let's hope so.

Armor makes no difference if vunerable. It works like this (dumbed down for brevity):

damage = (AR vs AP function) * (resist function) * default damage if you have a resist for that type

damage = default damage if you are vunerable. No resist = vunerable.

The ARvsAP funtion is a multiplier if AP > AR,reducer if AR > AP. Resist function is always a reducer.

Thus: if AP > AR and (ARvsAP function) > 1/(resist function) the damage is greater then default. Now watch carefully UNTIL THE RESIST FUNCTION IS 0 (vunverable). At that point damage no longer multiplies. Good for defender to be vunerable against a high AP weapon. Silly ain't it?

The mirror is just as silly if AR > AP you can see that going the reverse will get you no reducer. An AP0 weapon is halfed and then the resist hits. No resist vs 5% it looks like a difference of 55% instead. The problem is if there is no resist, and there is armor, you would think you still get the protection of the armor, but you do not... and you might as well take it off. This is why the Jawa is so effective. It shoots at you just like you did not have armor on at all. While it does have AP, it's not even calculated.

"3. The cert was given to Bounty Hunters, Commando's, Rangers and Squad Leaders because those are the 4 professions that most identify with what a Mandelorian would be. You have to be master of each of those professions to wear the armor."

WHA?! am I reading this right? you have to be a master of EACH of those professions?! I suppose it's possible I'm misreading that, considering there is NO WAY TO BE MASTER OF ALL 4 OF THOSE PROFESSIONS.

Sorry about the caps.. just wanted to put some emphasis on that

It was a typo...you have to be a Master of ANY not EACH.

Im slightly confused why CMs was left off on the requirements for the armor. I strongly support them limiting the proffessions that can wear, and using lore to do it. Yet when I look at the proffessions that can; except for BH (which if wasnt included theyd cry bloody murder); its clear they are all "military" professions. Is not a combat medic a "military" role?

Commando... military.. check.. makes sense

Ranger... military.. check.. makes sense

Squad Leader.. military.. check.. makes sense

Combat Medic... military.. no check.. makes no sense

If follow lore, CMs should be included. Im sure Mando mercs had medics... Actually if they even close to "true world" military forces, they had more medics than foward scouts (ie Ranger.)

Why would combat medics get mandalorian armor? It's not like we are toting guns around, nor walking tanks. I would say we are the "war by other means" group, which means that heavy armor and what not should be denied to us (which is in line with theno defensive skills we have).

Not to mention I'm a fan of keeping mandalorian armor relatively rare. Let the other professions have their perks. They need them far more than we need them...

Today we had a full group go to DWB. Its was fun but totally unorganized and I am now sure I may never get my BH armor turned into mando armor. Everyone is so used to solo groups that no one knows how to play together these days. This is getting lame.

Just curious if anyone know the kind of stats that mando armor comes with?

Thats a bit stupid considering it is so hard to get it should have easily the best stats of any armour, or at least lightsaber resist. However im sure many people have already said this so i wont go on about it...

Yeah, give it ls resist. I remember Mace's lightsaber just bouncing off Jangos neck.

On a more serious note. Supposedly Mando will be the king of all armors post CURB.
