nice thread. nice armor.

Would you care to test out a 400 year old sword to see if it's decayed to condition 0? All the prior testers have no comment. Perhaps a gun which was used in WW I and still fires with high accuracy upto 1km?

If that doesn't get you, then start reading current military specifications for combat equipment.

just for fun (cause I'm a number cruncher and all) I took a pretty good stun bat I made and figured the average damage you'd do to me through my suit with scatter hit. Wanna know the verdict?

36damage per hit...IF you hit health/action

Compare that to say, an unenhanced700 max T21 which would hit me for an average of around89 per hit (in any pool)with strafe2.

An insanelystrong krayt jawa would strafe me for405 below the neck, or 244 in the head...it might drain my armor's condition faster, but ask any PVPer if they'd rather do405 health damage or244 mind damage and get back to me. Anyone who targets health in this scenario is just trying to damage my armor, and not trying to win the fight.

When my suit's supposed "weakness" is this strong, I think it's safe to say it's a success?

for completeness, I should mention I was basing these calculations on my specific character, who has melee mitigation 3 but no ranged mitigation. On a character with ranged mitigation 3 the same jawa would do 271 health/action damage, 164 mind damage on average per strafe.

Same proportion, just lower numbers...either way, the biggest weakness of this suit is the 42% stun resist on the helmet, and there's really no way to improve that. The only way to better protect your mind from jawas is to lower the HAM on your suit so that it regens faster. I've done everything I can to lower the HAMs without making any part of the suit weaker than this 42% stun over the mind pool.

When setting up a defense, you have to assume your opponents will try to exploit your weakness....and when I can confidently say I can't improve my weakness at all without making a new weakness, then I've made a perfect defense.

Hence, perfect PVP suit

WOW is all I can say. Im a New Master AS. My armour seems pretty inefective compared to the stuff you fellas are making.. I have no idea how to create better armour past what I am making now.

Right now I make 80% kinetic using three layers, and a 59% base. My Armour is heavy. What I want to learn is how to make Good armour so if you have any tips for me, I would really appreciate any help.. Like what types of resources? and special resources such as NS layers and shards? Cubes? where do I hunt for these items. Everything you guys just said makes me salivate. Teach me..

Okay so not counting the helmet (I'll deal with that later) is it it plausible that I can have 4% stun with real high base comp made from 11 identical 7% NS layers and 8 identical 5% NS layers?

How do I best go about this? Should I start with the chest piece and use my layers up two at a time until I get one good sliced piece? Or should I just make a suit and roll the dice?

mm well with the resources used in my suit (depends on smith/server) you could have the AS make some stun layers with 4ish base, 4 stun, 8ish HAM. Then make a run of segs using one of each of your nightsister layers and the stun layer, I'm not sure what seg stats would be (maybe around 35-36 base?) but the finished armor would be around 72-73 base. That's a decent chance of slicing to 90...would need a 25% or better effect slice...which I'd guess happens maybe half of eff slices, so 1/4 chance of a 90% piece (although realistically, even something that ends up in the 80s is a strong piece of armor).

That doesn't count your enhancer slot...if you use janta hide instead of shards, you could tack on another 3% base (or better, if you have better hide) which would bump you to 75ish base on the armor, and only 20% eff slice needed, which is much better odds (maybe 1/3 slices will do it). But then the armor will be 10-10-10 HAM heavier (or more, if you were going to use better shards).

You'd get 7 identical segs from those layers (with 3 leftover 7% layers), chest takes 4, helmet/pants take 3, gloves take 1, everything else takes 2. So unless you have an absolute ton of shards/layers to play with, don't even bother making a chest plate this way. You can get a decent 68-70 base 4% stun chest plate by mixing elec layers and stun layers (or some AS use 3 stun layers for 12-13% stun with similar base/HAM), HAM will be moderately higher, but there's no loot required so you can slice as many as you like assuming you can keep buying them from the AS. I'd start with arms or boots, to make use of the decent set size (gloves can take any excess you have to play with, like the leftover 7% segs), since the encum difference will show more in smaller pieces, and you'll burn through your segs slower. If you're in a position to get more layers, I'd aim fora suit with the arms/gloves/boots done like mine, and chest/pants/helm made from regular crafted armor. Having 2 pieces 20 HAM heavier doesn't make too much difference on the suit, but it'll chop the number of layers/shards you'll need to less than half. If you're in a position to get a TON to layers and shards, then go ahead and try to copy my suit....but I wouldn't recommend it, I just did it for the sake of aiming for perfection, if I was making a suit I'd actually use, I wouldn't use enhancers in chest/pants (except maybe janta/rancor hide if I had extras, to cut down on the number needed to slice).

Also, if you don't mind abusing a bug and are willing to count on SOE not fixing it...you don't need to bother with biceps/bracers/pants at all. Any leg hits will redirected to the boots, and any arm hits will be redirected to the gloves. Some would consider it an exploit tho.

It seems as if a gorgeous armor like that can get the experienced (and rich) players of swg out of their secret caves.

I will in a most humble fasion try to use this opportunity to get some qualified info, so if I succeed in this I'll be most grateful.

First of all, to be sure that I have been misinformed I'd like to know for sure if armor decay really depend on the damage NOT being absorbed by the armor (ie a 4% will last way shorter than a 90% protection) and even better if any of you know the percentage of decay - 10% of damage? 20%?

Next. I saw the long auction of the exeptional (and 542/750 con!)T21 that went for an insane 160m. And with all the knowledge I have at this point I have no clue as to how a rifle like that is found - is it looted like that? or has it been crafted? if crafted, how? I mean with the best available ressources and for instance 11 perfect krayt tissues I can imagine a t21 with something like spd: 5.4 damage: 200-710 and crazy HAM cost. but that can get nowhere near the one in the auction or not remotely close to the mentioned 1900 max damage with a mind DoT. And if looted/gotten from missions, what kind of mob will drop stuff like that?

Also I think psg's were mentioned in a calculation regarding a stun batoon... Am I also misinformed that psg's only ever can protect against ranged attacks? is it just that they cannot have for instance kin protection, but work against all stun/electricity/energy... damage?

If any or all of these questions could be answered once and for all, i'd really appreciate it (though if they are you risk there'll be more to come

This is one nice piece of armor, very well done.
Are you going to use it in pvp or just keep as a showpiece?

That T21 was looted of a nightsister spellweaver.

I don't think he posted here yet so I thought I'd brag for him. On Naritus, Xanrag is working on a PvP display with a full suit of 90% Base/80% Electricity/40% Stun sliced armor. I believe, at the moment, he has had 2 pieces that were good enough, a helmet and a left bracer (if I remember correctly). I'm sure he would be open to letting us know how many pieces had to be sliced to hit those levels. I will post more info after I talk to him tonight.

I think I said this before, but as with everything else in this game (and in RL for that matter), what is perfect for one is not perfect for all. Very good discussion though, I'll check back soon. )
