Thread: Top 5 things that you want fixed
How about a customer's point of view?
1. More variety of better looking or "starwarsier" armor. Where are the blast vests and helmets that the Rebel fleet troopers wore in the beginning of ANH, for example?
2. Do away with the graphics for Bone and Chitin armor and replace them with something more starwarsy (chitin could be fixed with a simple reskinning, but bone needs remodeling. They're both ugly).
3. PSGs report no damage reduction in the combat spam, yet still suffer loss of condition. Probably because they are protecting against the belt hit location. Also when you get hit in a given armor location, ALL locations suffer loss of condition.
4. Armored clothing. Give armorsmiths the ability to craft clothing components that provide Armor Class 1 to clothing hit locations. These could use the same slots that BE components use, so that there is a tradeoff. They should also provide fairly low resists (less than 10% if several pieces are used) and have accompanying low encumbrance (less than 50 per stat for a full set of armored clothing). This would basically be equivilent to the lowest-end armors (bone, mabari) at a higher price for the fashion conscious combatant.
Alternatively, there could be armored variants of only certain types of clothing (clothing which takes up the jacket slot, most likely) or only those certain types of clothing could take the armor component slot. This would prevent stacking resists. After all, if we have a Kevlar vest that can be worn concealed under clothing in the modern world, I find it hard to believe that Star Wars has no such conealable armor.
5. Armor that you can wear a Gunman's Duster over. Starwars was a spaghetti western in space, so why not let us wear some medium armor underneath a gunmans duster and act it?
6. Better variety of high-end armor. With everybody running around in composite because it is "the armor" at the highends, you get more uniformity than coloration alone can fix. I understand that developement time is prohibitive, but it's something we need eventually.
7. Better trade-off between low-end, medium and high-end armors. As it is, everybody runs around in composite because the best armor if you can afford it. Consequently, most armorsmiths I know don't stock anything else, or only stock Composite and Padded. Architects still have demand for small houses, why not armorsmiths? Better balancing the encumbrace/effectiveness on the lower end armors would help, as well as specific resists on given armors to give them better defined roles (i.e., best vs melee, best vs commandos, etc.).
8. Resists caps are too high. Okay, shoot me for saying it, but a suit of high-quality krayt enhanced sliced composite armor can hit the 90% resists cap post-slice. It has already been done at least once on my own server. Even without krayt, sliced composite can easily reach the high 60's.Add a working PSGand possibly the +2k buffs from a doctor or entertainer, and you can see where this is a problem. A single AT-ST clearing out all of the defenders of a rebel base is bad enough, but a single armored up guy can do it without that warmachine barring the presence of turrets (which might still not stop him).
9. Armor attachments. No, not the skill attachments, I mean things like all the cool toys that Boba Fett had added to his suit of Mandalorian armor. Okay, low priority, but it would be really cool if we could get armor attachements like those.
10. A bounty-hunter only quest for Mandalorian Armor similar to the RIS armor quest. The BH would have to undergo an epic magnitude quest in order to get the schematic, which he would then take to an armorsmith to craft (it would be a one-shot schematic and only wearable by a BH, or would require quested components). This armor would be on par with RIS and composite, but would have a cool-factor that nobody could deny even if there's nothing setting it appart from other high-end armors.
11. The ability to craft or repair faction armor. If craft, then the schematics could be a faction perk (and an expensive one, too).

Well if this is still open:
1) Get rid of all known bugs; armor hole, shifting stats, and too many critical failures
2) Make armor do more; more animation, more sounds when you wear it and fight with it, different looks as it gets used and decays.
3) Allow more personalization with armor like a crest or something else (you can make this a layer that requires a personalization segment).
4) Do something with Padded armor - it is currently useless.
5) As a master AS I only really make Ubese and Composite ( the armors that really seem work). Fix the other armors andimprove them as suggested elsewhere in this thread.
One additional thing I'd like to throw in is to make the max production on component parts upto 3x greating than finished pieces. For example, if a finished piece requires 3 layers, I ought to be able to make 3x more layers than I can of that piece.

Since we were prompted for things to FIX...
1. Stat shifting bug
2. Armor Hole
3. Armor Experimentation issues
Last night was one of those reeeeaaalllllly bad crafting nights. I dont know what other 'smiths do
after getting experimental failures, but I scrap the piece. The failures are so severe, that I prefer not
to pass the failure on to my customers. Crafting doesn't seem to improve using the best possible
tools and stations.

those three..
-more armor
-faction armor
-basicaly.. make armor more useful.. we know the stats work out in armors favor.. but its close enough that some dont believe it.. either there is a benefit or not..
-a little more life for psgs (durability boost.. maybe stat boost.. definately needs artwork) if psgs made a shimmer effect every time they were used.. people would use em more
oh.. and welcome
Way to go!
I've finally read them all, and I still think the top 5 list should be
1. Armor hole
2. PSG/tantel/ris stat shifting
That's it. Just those 2.
I agree with Dustin's thread above as much as any of the rest. I am a new master on Gorath and 75% of the requests I get involve "appearance" and the rest are from more experienced pvp'rs looking for maxed out stats.
Being new, its appalling that PSG's are bugged and we have "armor holes" this long after release. I'd say that should be heard LONG, HARD and OFTEN. I can't believe stats are shifting......how do we get heard? Armor is the biggest ticket consumer product on market. It should work perfectly in month 6 and we should be chatting about new stuff.......armoring clothing and that kind of stuff.
Sooo. I agree with the idea of AGGRESSIVELY being heard on bugged fixes....but also want to see the profession advance. Also as a new AS....I have refered to these forums often over the last 2 months and appreciate the knowledge that exists in the AS ranks!
lower ham costs please. with limited amount of high quality resources some of us have a hard time making low ham cost armor, and with the randomness of slices it tends to discourage others from wearing it . doesnt help to make 70% resist against kinetic ,when you have to have a doctor buff you to wear it .

bugs w/armorsmith:
- personal shield generator stats shift
- rancor segments do NOT work in padded armor, as they're supposed to. the schematic doesn't recognize them as a valid ingredient.
- krayt scales do NOT help armor (w/the exception of bone armor), they only make it worse.
- would like a larger, more detailed color palette with ubese and chitin armors.
- would definately like some static spawns on giant dune kimos so some of us could finish this RIS quest. would also like the drops to be not-so-incredibly rare on woolamander harrowers and gurk kings. gurk king spawns more frequently.
