RIght now I have Novice Carbineer. I had been thinking of moving to novice pistoleer, but I want to see the stats on the different armors before I make my decision. The problem is I don't have enough SPs to get anything much beyond Novice Elite Combat profession. I have a lot of SPs tied up in merchant. Maybe I should rethink that since most of its skills are not worth it.
Why so many in merchant?
300x is all you ever need (x depending on how many vendors you need)...
- Efficiency is useless, credits have never been an issue for me.
- Hiring is useless, pick the vendor type you want and drop the line.
- Even advertising is a bit doubtful now with the vendor search.
Actually, all you need is 000x. Initially take 300x, get your vendors registered on the map, then drop back to 000x
Master is needed by many for the extra storage capacity. I often find myself at sotrage limit, so much so I had to respec my Smuggler/ BH to a Smuggler Merchant novice Pistoleer.

Well, last I checked on the smuggler forums there were a lot of smugglers who still don't know slicing is no longer random, let alone that slicing pushes armor over master level hinderances. So I'm not sure how many people are actually slicing at the moment
I know I stopped until I have more data on the impact of the extra hinderances.
Of course, after the fabled smuggler revamp, slicing might become fun and a challenge... and would be a great fit for a smith who wants to push their armor to the limits. So sure, master is useful for this as well.

Master Smugglers still get better results than Slicing IV, though whether the difference is worth the extra skillpoints is open to debate. It will be interesting to see how slicing pans out should the mythical smuggler revamp ever become reality.

As of now I am master AS, Master Pikes, and 0030 Swordsman, going for 0044 swordsman.
So far I like it although I'll have to find a merchant to sell my armor for me.
